An old temple with strange art and lots of cats.
An old temple, a bit hard to find, but when you enter, you will be amazed by the beautiful and eye-catching archway that is very different from anywhere else. It is a combination of art that is not often found. Notice the stairs to the temple in the Lanna style, which is a very long Makara Naga that rolls down below. From the sign in the temple, it is called Wat Chetuphon because the original temple area was a forest and there were wild animals living there. Walking to the back, there is a Sala Phra Chao Tan Jai, Guan Yin, Thao Wessuwan, and Father Pu Mor Jivaka Komarabhacca.
It can be said that those who are into the superstition must not miss it because this place has gathered all the sacred things that Thai people like to worship here.
It is also very suitable for visiting art works. When you enter the temple area, you will feel the peace and quiet, giving a very sacred feeling. There are also cats of the same color all over the area for tourists to play with, or you can say that you can see the temple and the cats at the same time, which is very enjoyable.

Worship the Fragrant Wood Buddha at Chetupon Temple, Chiang Rai.
🏕 Chetupon Temple was built around 1877, with the original vihara (main hall) located outside the temple, constructed with small-sized brick and mortar.
🏡 Later, a road was built through the area, leading to the construction of a new, larger vihara, completed around 1953.
🏰 In 1988, the vihara was rebuilt again, with Phra Buddha Chetupon Mongkol Rak as the principal Buddha image, which was the same image from the old vihara. The image was repaired, with the face (Phra Phak) uplifted and the body enhanced, making it more prominent and beautiful.
🖼 The doors and windows of the vihara are carved with ancient proverbs and sayings, while the vihara's entrance arch features traditional stucco designs.
Other important features within the temple include:
🛕 Phra That Chetupon Mongkol Ratana, built in 1976, with a square base containing 108 rice grain-sized relics, 3 green bean-sized relics, 2 black bean-sized relics, and 84,000 Phra Rod Chetupon images.
🙏 Sala Phra Mai Hom, housing a fragrant wood-carved Buddha image.
🙏 Sala Phra Chao Yai Ong Tue, housing a Buddha image in the Mara Vichaya posture.
🙏 Phra Buddha Mongkol Suwan, a Buddha image in the walking posture, located in front of the vihara.
🏚 The monk's quarters and the Tripitaka hall are built in Northern Thai style, preserved for historical and cultural significance.
