🏘Wat Lam Chang was established in 1839 when King Mangrai came to establish Chiang Mai and resided at Wiang Lek. The east side of Wiang is a forest with a large swamp.
🐘It is assumed that he kept and tied up the elephants that were the royal vehicles of his majesty and his courtiers in this area, so it is called Wiang Chiang Chang. He built a temple in this area called Wat Lam Chang. Inside the temple, there is a sculpture of a tied up elephant as a symbol of the temple.
Important and interesting things in the temple include:
🏠 The temple is an applied Lanna art style. It is a newly built brick and mortar building. The gable is decorated with golden floral patterns. On the side of the temple is a protruding porch for monks to enter and exit, according to the original Lanna tradition.
🙏🏽 Phra Chao Muk Dok Mai Som Prathan Sri Mueang Chiang Mai was built in the celebration ceremony of Chiang Mai City's 720th anniversary in 2016. It collected 1,500 kilograms of flowers, ground them, and mixed them with sacred materials from both domestic and international sites. Then pressed into a Buddha image
🛕 Round recessed pagoda, with elephant statues in all four directions at the base. The round base supporting the bell-shaped body is decorated with stucco statues of deities. The base is decorated with lotus petal patterns. The top of the pagoda is raised with a golden umbrella.
🧱 The remains of an ancient pagoda, a square pagoda with niches on all four sides, but the top is broken, so it is not known what kind of pagoda it is.
