Serene Buddhist Temple in Hangzhou
#historicplaces I was busy browsing places to visit in the city when I saw pictures of this temple. I was surprised that my friend and I were among the very few tourists there. The temple dates back to 1000 years with occasional restoration in the past years. The atmosphere is peaceful & calm. The outside was beautifully decorated with lanterns. There’s still a Buddhist monastery, so be ready to see monks walking around. The temple also consists of a restaurant offering a vegetarian buffet (not included in entrance ticket)
Entrance 🎟 - 20¥
How to go ➡️ Take metro line 3 to Xiangji Temple station 香积寺地铁站 🚇 and walk for about 10 mins.

"Small is hidden in the mountains, and it is hidden in the city." Most of the temples I have seen are in the mountains, and Xiangji Temple is an exception, located in the center of Hangzhou. The so-called big hidden
Sky..
I originally thought Xiangji Temple was quite ordinary, but it really is no less impressive than Lingyin Temple
After all this time, compared to happiness, what I need more is peace. Among the 271 temples in Hangzhou, today I added one more to my list: Xiangji Temple. This is why I urge you to definitely visit Xiangji Temple🙏🏻
🚇 Line 3, Exit C, turn right and walk a hundred meters to see two stone pagodas, and the golden temple appears before your eyes. In the bustling city, it's a peaceful retreat. Take a rest, clear your mind, and slowly appreciate this unique temple, feeling the tranquility of the soul!
Xiangji Temple is a famous temple along the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal. Its exterior walls and structures are decorated with copper, giving it an ancient and classic look. I think the architecture itself is not particularly stunning, but against the backdrop of the surrounding high-rises, it really amazes many people who come to take photos📸 and check in. Every photo is beautiful, and I wish I could share them all!

Xiangji Temple covered with cherry blossoms 🌸
#cherryblossom2024
The cherry blossoms at the renowned ancient residence are in full bloom and absolutely breathtaking!
🏯 Xiangji Temple may be small, but numerous temples have been constructed surrounding the ancient houses in R's name.
🏡 Just around 35 minutes ago, this area was primarily residential and somewhat unstable for an extended period.
🎫 No tickets were required for entry.
🌅 Perfect sunrise setting! The grand cherry tree in the courtyard is bursting with delicate flowers! It's a rare sight in movies, with many locals choosing this spot for wedding photoshoots. Taiwanese tourists even travel from Beijing to have their portraits taken here.
📍Location: Nagoya Xiangji Courtyard

"Great hermits hide in the city" is quite so, Hangzhou Xiangji Temple
"Great hermits hide in the city" is quite so, Hangzhou Xiangji Temple.
Xiangji Temple offers sacrifices to the great sage Kinnara King Bodhisattva.
It is the only temple in the country that worships the Bodhisattva of fasting supervision.
Kinnara
In Buddhism, it means 'musician of heaven', 'god of song'.
It is also the deity that protects food hygiene.

Stop rolling around West Lake; I prefer this ancient and artistic walking route
Autumn is definitely the most romantic season in Hangzhou. If you also like CityWalk, then you must save this niche, ancient, and artistic route!
✔️Route Share:
Fu Yi Warehouse — Xiangji Temple — Xiaohe Straight Street — Qiaoxi Historical and Cultural Street
1️⃣Fu Yi Warehouse
The only remaining granary in Hangzhou, built during the Guangxu period of the Qing dynasty, was once a strategic grain reserve of the Qing dynasty. It's almost empty, very quiet, with boats🚢 passing by constantly. Walking slowly along the canal, with rows of willows, is very pleasant.
2️⃣Xiangji Temple
The only temple in our country that worships the Bodhisattva of Fasting. The total area is almost 16,000 square meters. From the Hall of Heavenly Kings all the way to the Sutra Depository, it's very suitable for a slow walk, to quietly appreciate this thousand-year-old ancient temple. The Tang dynasty architecture is always divine~
Tickets are 20 yuan, available directly at the entrance, no need to book in advance.
3️⃣Xiaohe Straight Street
It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say it's the most artistic block in Hangzhou, located at the confluence of the Grand Canal, Xiaohe, and Yuhangtang River, which retains the traditional historical cultural characteristics and architectural style, and also adds a modern artistic atmosphere.
There are many unique shops that are great for browsing, and even the storefront arrangements are particularly interesting. You can take pictures and check in at will, very suitable for spending an afternoon.
4️⃣Qiaoxi Historical and Cultural Street
About 1.3 kilometers away from Xiaohe Straight Street, named after the 'Gongchen Bridge', the ancient charm is a bit stronger, very much like the ancient market streets. In addition to sitting in coffee shops and small taverns, there are also the China Umbrella Museum and the China Knives, Scissors, and Swords Museum, but it's recommended to go early, as the museums close at 4:30 pm~
This place is less popular than the previous spots, so there are fewer people, making it more comfortable to stroll around.

Fuzhou's heart-fluttering, hidden gem of a park is breathtakingly beautiful
Fuzhou Liuhua Creek Park,
Here you can find the white Liuhua Creek Church, a giant banyan tree, and a vast lawn.
The photo opportunities are fantastic, with scenes reminiscent of both Southern China and Europe.
📍Located at Xiangji Temple, 🚌get off at the Jinshan Pusang Bus Hub Station, and you'll be greeted by a large grassy area and ancient banyan trees. Follow the path from Xiangji Temple to the church to explore.
The park is not very big, a city walk takes about 30 minutes. Currently, both the temple and the church are not open to the public.

The only temple in China that worships the 'God of Food' has gained popularity because of its super cute little dragon treasure
Xiangji Temple, founded in the third year of Song Taiping Xingguo (978), is the only copper hall that worships the 'God of Food' Jianshai Bodhisattva, known as the 'marketplace style place, the first incense of the canal'.
Jianshai Bodhisattva, also known as Jinnaruo, is one of the 'Eight Divisions of Devas and Nāgas' in Buddhism, the god who guards the monks' meals. He is a male and female in one body, with a male appearance of a horse-headed human body, and the female appearance is a beautiful sound fairy.
The fragrance of Xiangji Buddha Country is the first in the ten directions and three realms. They will use fragrant rice to offer to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, so the big dormitory of Buddhism is also called 'Xiangji'.
At present, only the east side of Xiangji Temple is an ancient relic, which will become popular every year because of the sun-dried cabbage. The vegetarian craftsmanship here is top-notch. Every year on the 23rd of the twelfth lunar month, the leaders of all the city's restaurants come here to pay their respects.

I have walked through Hangzhou for you, and there are places I really don't want to go again
Hangzhou is finally not hot, I walked along the Grand Canal and found... not every place is worth Citywalk's
🌽p15-16
1⃣Xiangji Temple☺
Get out of Xiangji Temple subway station, walk 400 meters (the closest point to the subway in the whole line, greatly reducing your walking distance☑). The Xiangji Temple, which is quiet in the bustling buildings, is not crowded on holidays, and the vegetarian food here is so delicious that I always double show off, and the bracelets are also very 🔥.
🌽p8-9
2⃣Dadou Road Cultural District☹
Leaving Xiangji Temple to Xiaohedirect Street will pass Dadou Road, just pass by, don't feel heartache if you don't stroll around, the whole street is like a deluxe version of the night market, no need to stay for a long time.
🌽p1-7
3⃣Xiaohedirect Street☺
In the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China, Xiaohedirect Street was a gathering place for workers along the canal. Nowadays, there are treasure shops everywhere, and the slogans of each shop are very catchy. With the white walls and black tiles of the streets and alleys, Xiaohedirect Street can hold the workers for 100 years without reason✅.
🌽p10-11
4⃣Xiaohe Park☺
Across from Xiaohedirect Street is Xiaohe Park, an industrial style park transformed from warehouses and oil pipes. It may not feel much in other places, but in this old street area, it is like green pepper in twice-cooked pork🫑, just to relieve your aesthetic fatigue✅.
🌽p12-13
5⃣Gongchen Bridge☺
The longest and highest stone arch bridge in Hangzhou, the 'chen' of Hangzhou Asian Games mascot 'Chenchen' comes from here, which shows its status in Hangzhou. It only takes two minutes to cross the bridge, there is no reason not to go✅, Gongchen Bridge at night is also worth a look.
🌽p14
6⃣Qiaoxi Cultural District☺☹
Located on the west side of Gongchen Bridge, Hangzhou Arts and Crafts Museum, China Umbrella Museum, China Knife, Scissors and Sword Museum, are all near Qiaoxi. If it rains, it's better to come to Qiaoxi to visit the museum. 👉Please note that the museums start to close gradually around 4 pm🫣.
The ancient buildings of Qiaoxi have been largely destroyed, although they have been repaired, but they are mixed with too much modern atmosphere, so compared to the street view of Qiaoxi, I recommend going to the nearby canal to take a walk and blow the wind🌬.
🚩Hangzhou is a multi-faceted city, the accent is always hidden in the streets and alleys, come to the old streets of Hangzhou for a City walk, no need to walk fast, don't care about time, find the buffer zone between the heart and the world, let the surprise actively approach you, it will be much easier than touring West Lake.
STEPHEN MASON
This Asian Games route is great for strolling and taking pictures!
Compared to the always crowded West Lake, I actually prefer this less popular Asian Games tour route, which is very suitable for walking➕photography, sharing some photo check-in locations, friends who are going to go recently hurry up and mark it~
🚶♀️My photo route: Xiangji Temple Square——Xiaohe Straight Street——Qiaoxi Historical and Cultural Street——Gongchen Bridge
-
1️⃣Xiangji Temple:
A thousand-year-old temple on the side of the canal, quiet in the midst of noise, next to it is a high-rise building, the picture of ancient civilization and modern society in the same scene, quite impactful.
Photo points:
▪️Xiangji Temple Square, that is, this area at the entrance, take a picture from under the tree on the right, use the leaves as the foreground;
▪️Dashingenna King Hall, each person can get 3 incense for free, you can capture some pictures of worship;
▪️The small roads on both sides, people can pretend to walk casually, with the temple building as the background;
▪️There are often monks passing by in the temple, wait more and you can take pictures.
2️⃣Xiaohe Straight Street:
The architectural style and street structure of Xiaohe Straight Street are all rebuilt during the Republic of China period, and you can always find some traces of the times left behind, which is also one of the fun of my citywalk.
Photo points:
▪️Along the river path, there is a door every short distance that can go directly to the river, use the door to create a sense of space for shooting;
▪️The entrance of the shop, the door design of Xiaohe Straight Street is very distinctive, there are various flower installations, some even have seats, very Dali feeling;
▪️Street side wall, ancient wooden doors and large jars for brewing wine, etc., can make your photos more vivid;
▪️In the middle of the street, the narrow street is crowded with people, very human.
3️⃣Qiaoxi Historical and Cultural Street➕Gongchen Bridge
The two points are actually together, here is very suitable for shooting national style, Hanfu and cheongsam can be.
Photo points:
▪️The entrance of Gongchen Bridge is a street with a very ancient life atmosphere, the roof is hung with the banner of Fang Hui Chun Tang, very age-sensitive;
▪️Along the river street, there are large lotus flowers🪷 by the river, the background is old buildings;
▪️The main street and the fork, the whole block is very good to shoot, there will be some small forks in the middle, the wall is hung with big character posters shop name, also very good to shoot.

Xiangji Temple
Xiangji Temple in Hangzhou, located at No. 1 Xiangji Temple Lane, Gongshu District, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, was first built in the third year of Taiping Xingguo in the Northern Song Dynasty (978 AD), originally named Xingfu Temple, and later renamed Xiangji Temple by Emperor Zhenzong of Song. It was rebuilt and opened on February 7, 2010, covering an area of 16,855 square meters, mainly offering to the Great Saint King Jinnaruo Bodhisattva, and it is the only temple in China that offers to the Jizai Bodhisattva.
