In the morning, I arrived at the small town of Kure City, south of Hiroshima. Although it is said to be a tourist city, it is more famous for its nature as a naval port, being one of the largest naval ports currently. The shipbuilding industry here is very developed, transitioning from building warships to now constructing both civilian and military ships, giving the place a unique character. The most famous attractions here are the Yamato Museum and the Submarine Museum. The introduction here is quite fair. As soon as you enter the museum, you can see the huge model of the Yamato. The ship's 46cm triple-barrel cannons were the top configuration for battleships at the time. However, World War II was already the era of aircraft carriers, and battleships relying solely on firepower became a disadvantage. Therefore, this ship was soon bombed and sunk by the US military in the waters off Kagoshima. Besides viewing warships, there are many interesting mini-games related to shipbuilding inside, which were quite fun to play. The Yamato Museum is located next to JR Kure Station, a 10-minute walk away. After exiting the station, follow the signs from the port exit. Additionally, most of the trams in Kure City depart from Hiroshima Station, with one every half hour. The entrance fee for the Yamato Museum is 500 yen, and as long as the ticket is for the same day, you can enter and exit unlimited times.
