Lok Kawi Wildlife Park, nestled in the scenic region of Sabah, Malaysia, offers a captivating wildlife experience. As you enter the park, you'll immediately find yourself immersed in a tropical paradise. The park spans over 280 acres, showcasing a diverse array of Borneo's native flora and fauna.
One of the park's highlights is the chance to observe endangered and exotic animals up close. Visitors can witness the graceful orangutans swinging through trees, the peculiar proboscis monkeys with their distinctive long noses, and the majestic Borneo pygmy elephants, known for their smaller size compared to their mainland counterparts. The park is also home to various bird species, reptiles, and smaller mammals, creating an enriching and educational experience for nature enthusiasts.
The well-designed walkways and viewing platforms ensure a safe and comfortable environment for both animals and visitors. This approach allows guests to observe the animals in a habitat that closely resembles their natural surroundings. Educational programs and feeding sessions are regularly conducted, providing visitors with insights into the behaviors and conservation efforts for these remarkable creatures.
Beyond the wildlife encounters, Lok Kawi Wildlife Park plays a vital role in conservation efforts. It participates in breeding programs aimed at preserving endangered species, contributing significantly to the region's biodiversity preservation. Visitors can learn about these initiatives and the importance of protecting these animals and their habitats.
The lush, tropical setting of the park adds to the overall experience. It's an ideal place to reconnect with nature, with well-maintained gardens and picnic areas for relaxation and leisure. Welcome to Lok Kawi Wildlife Park 🐘
Home to Borneo Pygmy elephants, Malayan Tigers, Deers and even orang utans, Lok Kawi Wildlife Park is a great place to visit especially for those with kids. Spreading over 280 acres of land, you can also head over to this wildlife reserve for leisurely strolls or jungle trekking. Note that there is an entry fee of RM 10 for Malaysian adults or RM 5 for children. For international tourists, the charge would be double the amount.#newyearadventure

Great experience in Lok KaWi wild life park
I am so pleased I went to Lok Kawi. I wanted to spend more time observing orangutans and the conditions were good for them, lots of orangutans to observe. Also an animal show where you could see snakes. Other animals include Proboscis Monkeys, tiger, elephants, leopard, birds, gibbons etc. Spent 3 hours here and was v worthwhile.
Although this place is not really big, I would recommend everyone to go. I spend around 2 hours here in total. At the entrance you will find some older bird cages, which are not the best. But later in the park, the cages become bigger and better decorated for the animals. There was quite some construction going on, so hopefully this will result in all bigger/better cages in the future.Had lots of fun during animal show which were full of surprises. My kids having so much time.
We found the staff to be very polite and knowledgeable, the animals all looked healthy and content. There are 4 beautiful orangutans which we were able to feed. They was a large variety of animal life. Fantastic experience.

Mengalum Island Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Touring Malaysia's Pulau Tiga, the jellyfish sea is full of fish
Only when I went to Pulau Tiga in Sabah did I realize,
The blue sea is really not a legend💙.
The journey is closer than Mermaid Island, and there are fewer people than island hopping,
Our boat of 20 people almost chartered the island🏝.
Snorkeling in the middle of the sea is completely different from the shore,
The water is clear, and there are as many fish as Finding Nemo🐟,
There are clownfish nemo and the same pink coral.
I was also lucky to find a little turtle swimming🐢.
There is a buffet lunch at noon, and drinks are free.
It's not delicate but it tastes good🦀.
Then go to the beach to step on the white sand and take pictures,
Dancing under the bubble machine while listening to music,
For a complete guide, see below😎
🗺Itinerary & Tips:
👉07:20 Pick up from the hotel to the pier.
👉09:30 Arrive on the island (1.5 hours by speedboat)
Depart early, it is recommended not to arrange too full the day before or rest early. There is no bathroom on the boat, so go to the pier. I squinted on the boat and slept very sweetly in the sea breeze.
🐠🐠10:00 Change into a swimsuit and go out to sea for snorkeling🐠🐠
There are two snorkeling points in total, and places with many fish and corals will stay longer. Even if you can't swim, you can have a lot of fun. If you are really scared, you can get on the boat in advance.
There will be precautions on the boat, and free activities after getting off the water. Everyone is in one area, and Xiao Hei is also around you. The life jacket has a large buoyancy and is generally safe.
📌Snorkeling Tips:
①Be sure to wear a jellyfish suit or sun protection suit, otherwise it is easy to get sunburned. Some fish bite people, the wound is not big and not painful but it will break.
②The rented face mirror is of good quality, not easy to enter the water, if you need glasses, you can tell the guide. There is no disposable mouthpiece, if you mind, you can bring your own.
③It is necessary to rent a pair of flippers, it is better to kick water when encountering waves and currents, especially for those who can't swim.
④Buy some bread in advance and stuff it in a plastic bottle. The effect of attracting fish is very good. It costs 5RM/bottle on the boat.
⑤Gopro follows the shooting according to the number of tourists, 50RM/person/snorkeling all the way. The shooting is really good, and it is more reassuring to have Xiao Hei staring at you. You can bargain to 30RM/person, and the guide will give it to you before leaving the island.
👉12:00-13:00 Beach buffet lunch, free activities.
It is recommended not to change the swimsuit first, it will spray bubbles at 13:30.
👉14:30 Board the ship and return, 16:00 Arrive at the city pier. You can go to Tanjung Aru Beach to watch the sunset.
💡Reservation:
There are 3 companies on the island, I chose "Love of Pulau Tiga". The service is very good, and one of the guides can speak Chinese. Xiao Hei is also very enthusiastic, helping to take pictures on the boat, and actively communicating with you in English.
You can bargain if you book one day in advance at the pier, 260RM or 300RM can be booked.
🎒Suggested to bring:
Sunscreen/mud, hat, sunglasses, mobile phone waterproof bag, swimsuit, slippers, towel, bread for feeding fish
Escape to Mengalum Island
Began from Jesselton Point Jetty and we boarded boat for about 1 hour ride to the island. Upon arrival, we couldnt help but snap countless photos of the place. The white sandy beach, ocean and sky were too stunning. After gearing up, we went for 2 diving spots. We swam alongside schools of fish, watched as graceful sea turtles glided by, spotted a playful octopus, etc. Back to the island, we had our sumptuous buffet lunch to fill our tummies. There are also free activities available such as snorkeling and kayaking. You may roam around the island on your own or you can also choose to ride their ATV (own expense).

Island-hopping and water fun guide at Sapi Island near Kota Kinabalu
🌈 For a leisurely time on the beach and island, Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia is a great place with various island-hopping options. Here's a one-day guide to island-hopping and playing in the water around Sapi Island. It is recommended to join a tour group, which can be booked online or through a hotel. The cost is about 400+ RMB, including hotel transfers and meals.
✅ Travel Tips
👉 Gather at the hotel at 8 am, take a shuttle to the pier, which takes about an hour, then wait at the pier for the boat to depart, which also takes more than an hour. After arriving, change clothes and get ready to go snorkeling. The water is clear and jelly-like, and you can see schools of fish. Underwater photography is provided for a fee, and Xiao Hei will help take pictures with an underwater camera.
Snorkeling usually takes place 1-2 times, and you'll be taken to better areas to play, including feeding fish with bread, which is very effective. There's free time on the beach to wade and play in the waves, with trees, rest areas, and decorated swings for photo opportunities. Near the beach, you can also swim in the clear water with fine sand and enjoy the sunshine to the fullest.
After snorkeling, it's usually time for lunch, with some shrimp, crab, chicken wings, and fried food provided. The trip generally ends in the afternoon, and you'll be taken back to the hotel.
📌 Precautions:
UV rays are strong, so remember to use full-spectrum sunscreen, and be fully prepared with sun-protective clothing, sunglasses, and hats. Also, prepare a set of replacement clothing.
If the weather is bad, do not easily go to the island, as the boat ride can be very bumpy and long, causing seasickness and vomiting, which can be very uncomfortable and also unsafe. There is basically no signal on the island.

Gaya Street Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Kota Kinabalu, known as the 'Land Below the Clouds', is an unmissable landmark at the city center's 0km point
☁️ The 'Land Below the Clouds', also known as Kota Kinabalu, and more affectionately referred to as KK by the locals, is the capital of Sabah and a famous tourist city in West Malaysia, boasting beautiful mountain and sea scenery🌊, and is a necessary transit point on the way to Semporna.
The KK city center is not large, but it exudes a strong old Hong Kong vibe, with many highly-rated seafood restaurants🦞, Hong Kong-style tea restaurants🍵, and the Southeast Asia-popular Bak Kut Teh. Walking along Gaya Street in the city center, the weekend night market is bustling with crowds
At the end of the street is the Kota Kinabalu City Tourism Bureau, where the entrance features the KK tourism landmark—the 0km sign, which serves as a great spot for a tourist check-in .

We also went to Tanjung Aru Beach (said to be one of the three most beautiful sunsets in the world), Sabah University, Gaya Street Market, and the local night market! The monkeys at Sabah University were huge, and we rented a scooter for three hours but still didn't finish exploring. Sisters, please note that if you don't return the scooter by 5 o'clock, they will charge you!

[Accommodation]🏨ibis Kuala Lumpur City hotel in the center of Kuala Lumpur city.
Near KLCC, there is a rooftop infinity pool! Just a few steps away from the Twin Towers! (Personally, I think this hotel offers great value for money! The bed is very comfortable.) Malaysian hotel registration requires MYR10/night.
[Food]🍜There's a noodle shop: the taste of rice noodles is good! The pulled tea is super delicious!
🍜Zhongnanji Bak Kut Teh: The soup base is rich in herbal flavor! There is no menu, the boss will ask how many people and help you with the combination!

There is a large window where you can see the sunset over the mountains, which is very beautiful!
Jalan Gaya—best experience in KK, Malaysia
I love Jalan Gaya! It has everything I’m looking for on traveling. On every Friday and Saturday night, there is bustling night food market. There are street performances. Both youngsters and people with family and kids will have a great time here.
Every Sunday morning until 1pm, there is Sunday market place. Street vendors from pets, birds to clothes, food come out for their show time.
Then of course there are so many restaurants. Malaysian, Chinese, Indonesian, you can find all kinds of foods here on Jalan Gaya. My favorite one is Bah Kut Teh. Give it a try if you are here. You won’t regret it.
STAY COMFORTABLY IN CHEAP INN😍
⛳️ Signature Inn, Gaya Street, Kota Kinabalu
#SignatureInn
Oh, I love this place! I would rate it 10/10.
At first, I was thinking should or not to stay here, because my previous stay (at one of so called HOTEL nearby) quite dissatisfying and not happy with the service. This experience affected, for me to make a decision.
I finally made up my mind to stay here after did some research and read all the reviews and comments by other travellers/guest. So, finger crossed and yeah I booked it!
POV on first stay:
On my first stayed, my darling and I were late for check-in. The traffic jammed from the airport were almost killed us🥵😅. We informed the front desk in advance. I love the way they greet their guest on the phone, very professional and polite. Once we arrived, I directly walked in to the lobby for check-in. I forgot the staff’s name, but he is really friendly and polite. He even let me used the staff’s restroom (as I know it is actually not allowed), because I can’t wait any longer 💩 💩 💩.
After settle with check-in process, we directly look for our room. We booked for Standard Twin (2 single bed), because most of the rooms are sold out. The room was okay and clean. We comfortably stay here for 2 nights. Better experience compared with some hotels. Worth than some expensive hotel too. Overall, from the staff, facilities, everything is fine. We love it! ❤️
POV on 2nd stay:
My second stayed was with my friends. It’s was a short vacay with them. And, again their staff was amazed me. She recognised me right away when I was there ready for check-in. They’re well trained staffs.
For this stayed, I was requested for early check-in, luckily I managed to get it. We booked for Standard Family Room (1 queen bed, 1 single bed), which fit all of us (4 person). And again, I was enjoy to stay here and the experience was amazing.
Extra Info:
Please do not expect much for the room. The room were not that big like hotel’s room. THIS IS AN INN, REMEMBER? But, the experience is much better or same as hotel. Affordable and suitable for Budget Travellers.
Location:
One of the reasons why I love to stay here is, because of the strategic location. Opposite this inn, there’s a supermarket, so can buy some foods. This area also has some choices where to eat, so don’t worry.
