Many people ask when is the best time to visit Georgia? Personally, I give May a 10/10, hands down! It's the perfect time when nature is completely waking up from its winter slumber. The view right in front of you is "the ultimate contrast" 🏔️ The mountains here are insanely green! The fresh green meadows contrast perfectly with the peaks that are still capped in "pure white snow." Especially if you visit the Kazbegi area... it literally feels like stepping right out of a fairytale painting! The photos are from late May. Is Georgia suitable for a self-drive trip? Yes — if you're already a confident driver. But you’ll need a lot of focus! First, they drive on the left-hand side of the car (left-hand drive), so if you’re not used to it, it can feel confusing at first. Sometimes both the driver and passenger get disoriented or even mix up which side to get in the car 😂. Most locals are extremely skilled at overtaking on curves — both in the city and in the mountains. Some roads aren’t great, with lots of rocks and constant construction. In some areas, you even have to avoid cows because locals raise a lot of cattle. Our itinerary is very chill because… well, our bodies can’t handle intense trips anymore 😂. We only visited a few places each day because the distances between cities are long and travel time eats up a big part of the day. But even someone like me who never exercises could do it — so you can too!! We stayed at Fifth Season. Our 9-day trip with 4 friends was entirely self-planned, focusing on complete freedom by renting a car for the entire journey. From the architecture in Tbilisi to the peaks of Mestia and Kazbegi, we experienced it all. 💰 A budget that truly works! Over 8 nights and 9 days, we spent only 17,000 THB per person (excluding airfare). This was achieved through our "share-split-save" strategy. The key to saving was renting a car for the trip, making travel costs flexible and significantly cheaper. When split among four, the 6-day car rental cost was just about 2,240 THB per person, with fuel costing only 1,000 THB each! The majority of the budget, around 7,600 THB, was allocated to 8 nights of accommodation, focusing on value and scenic views.
