This summer, when London was 31 degrees, I escaped to Lake Windermere. It was raining when I arrived at Lake Windermere. I got off the train and went directly to the hotel. The hotel was Windermere Manor Hotel. From the map, it was about 2KM and I decided to walk there. I could see the scenery along the way. The town of Windermere is not big, the air is fresh, and it is surrounded by green trees. It is a bit misty when it rains, and the artistic conception is very good. The most worthwhile place to go is Queen Adelaide Hill, which is very close to the hotel. I went there three times in two days. It was very beautiful to look at the entire lake area and the cascading hills in the distance from it, and it also purified the body and soul. I went to Hooked Seafood Restaurant and Flaying Pig, which are more British and a little expensive, but my favorite taste memory is the oyster. The other tastes are okay, but not as delicious as Xiaohongshu said. The scenery is beautiful and it is worth coming again.

We wanted to get away from the city for a quick break so headed up to the Lake District. At Euston we took the Avanti train to Oxenholme. bought standard class tickets but upgraded to first class using an app called SeatFrog for just £35! We picked to stay in Kendal which is a nice small town but cheaper than more central lakes locations. The bus to windermere takes just 20 minutes and is usually open top. After a good night sleep we headed out to explore the lakes. We took the open top 599 bus to Grasmere (about 1hr). Here there is lots of cute little shops and cafes. The Grasmere Tea Garden is a great place for a coffee looking over the river. There is also the famous Grasmere Gingerbread shop which is worth a look. Back on the bus we headed for Ambleside. After browsing the shops we walked to the pier and took a trip on Lake Windermere to Bowness. Beautiful scenery and very relaxing. At Bowness there is loads of shops, cafes, restaurants, the Peter Rabbit Exhibition and lots of places you can hire a boat and cruise out on the lake yourself. After too much shopping (and some local ice cream!), we headed back to Kendal for dinner. To get around the lakes we bought a Bus & Boat day ticket from the bus driver. This was £20 for adults and gives all day travel across the lake district and a single journey on the Windermere Lake Cruises boat. Well worth it.

Transportation is also very convenient, taking a train from various parts of the UK to Windermere station. The main transportation within the lake area is by bus, with 555 and 599 being able to reach major towns and attractions for 3 pounds each time, no matter how far it is. Windermere Lake is the largest natural lake in the UK, distributed in a narrow north-south direction. Windermere Town and Bonas Town are located in the middle, about a 30 minute walk or bus ride between the two towns. We chose to stay at the Windermere Hotel next to the Windermere train station, walk to the dock in Bonas, and take a boat tour. The boat tour has three routes: the red line heading north (recommended by the staff, possibly because there are more fun options passing through the town of Ambleside), the blue line in the middle, and the longest yellow line. The ticketing lady confirmed with us repeatedly: Do you want to take the yellow line? That's not much fun, even the blue line is better than the yellow line. We firmly chose the yellow line because we had to take the bus to Grasmere in the north the next day. The fact proves that the yellow line meets our expectations very well, because we want to see more natural scenery and hike. After the yellow line reaches Lakeside Pier, there are large areas of lakeside scenery and train tracks nearby, which are perfect for hiking. pay attention to ⚠️ Buy round-trip tickets for the cruise ship, and you can disembark midway. After sightseeing nearby, you can take the later flight back. Took a trip from Windermere train station up and got the bus to Ambleside and took on some lovely walks eg. stock ghyll waterfall, the mighty Helvellyn and a ten mile trip around Thirlmere lake in which we saw 7 fighter jets fly by!!!
