⛰️The final stop of our early July trip to Western Sichuan was Mount Siguniang. As everyone knows, the weather at Mount Siguniang changes constantly. You need to be mentally prepared before you go; visiting the Mount Siguniang Scenic Area is like opening a blind box. ☀️The weather forecast showed sunny in the morning and possible rain by noon. To make the most of this window, I chose to stay in Siguniang Town the night before so I could set off early the next morning. Mount Siguniang is beautiful, but it really comes down to luck. The weather was amazing in the morning; the mountain peaks were crystal clear under the sunny sky, and the lake water was clear to the bottom. In the afternoon, I used up my last bit of luck to go rafting before the clouds and rain rolled in. In one day, I experienced sun, clouds, fog, and rain, and felt the unique atmosphere of the mountains. 🚌Stress-free route: Take the shuttle bus and explore from top to bottom. Final stop: Red Cedar Forest — Potala Peak — Sigunacuo Lake — Nianyu Dam Rafting (walk the wooden boardwalk) — Longzhucuo Lake (you can skip this if you aren't interested in the souvenirs) 📮Location: Shuangqiaogou Scenic Area, Mount Siguniang, Aba, Sichuan. 🚗Transportation: Self-driving 🅿️Parking: Paid parking lot. 🎫Ticket: Admission + sightseeing bus 140 ⛰️Altitude: Around 3,000 meters ⚠️Tips: √Accommodations in town are quite good. During peak season, most are booked by tour groups, so you need to book your hotel in advance. √Although the weather forecast isn't accurate, and the weather on the mountain can be completely different from the bottom, it's good for reference. Just go with the flow. √There is a large temperature difference between morning and evening, so bring a windbreaker that is windproof and waterproof. There is less fog in the morning, so enter the scenic area as early as possible and stay warm. √Changping Valley and Haizi Valley are suitable for hiking and require some physical stamina; they are not suitable for the elderly or young children. √It is recommended to bring a raincoat. √Rafting is very gentle and not thrilling, and you don't need to wear a raincoat, but whether it's open depends on the weather that day. √Be sure to come to the scenic area entrance the afternoon before to take photos; you can get shots without crowds. It’s no wonder it’s dubbed the "Alps of the East." The highlight is the four snow-covered peaks lined up beautifully, with the main summit, Yaomei Peak, reaching about 6,247.8 meters. 😳 There are three main routes to explore: Shuangqiaogou, Changpinggou, and Haizigou. If you aren't a hardcore hiker, I highly recommend Shuangqiaogou. It features a sightseeing shuttle bus that makes exploring much easier, with several mountain viewpoints along the way. 🚌❄️ What I love most is how the scenery changes at every turn. 💙 You go from lush green pine forests ➡️ crystal-clear streams ➡️ rolling meadows ➡️ serene lakes ➡️ to the towering snow mountains standing tall in the background. Open the balcony door of your room, and the emerald ripples of the lake shatter into thousands of golden scales under the sunlight. As the breeze brushes by, the water surface wrinkles with fine lines, then slowly smooths out again. In the afternoon, order a coffee at the Lake Cafe, sit on the terrace, and watch the emerald ripples spread in circles. Watch the cloud shadows glide slowly across the lake surface, and see birds skim over the water before disappearing into the forest... You don't have to think about anything or do anything. Just sitting there makes you feel that life is worth it! Get a good night's sleep, and the next morning, take a stroll along the lake boardwalk. Along the way, scatter the flower seeds given by the guesthouse butler into the soil, wishing for a small sea of flowers to bloom here next year. 📍 3360 Cafe | Mount Siguniang 🇨🇳 I visited Mount Siguniang in October 🍁 when the leaves were turning beautiful shades of yellow and orange. On the way down in the afternoon, I stopped by this cafe before leaving the park, and it turned out to be the perfect rest spot. ☕️ 3360 Cafe is located at the 3360m Service Center, as the name suggests. The shop is situated about 3,360 meters above sea level. What I loved wasn’t just the coffee, but the overall vibe 🏔️. The shop has large glass windows looking out at mountain views, and there's an outdoor area where you can sit, take photos, or just relax after a full day of exploring. Especially in the October afternoon light 🍁, the surrounding view of mountains, lakes, and autumn trees turned a simple coffee break into one of my favorite moments of the trip ☕️🤍. 🚌 Where is it? It’s easy to find. When taking the bus down from the top, don't ride it all the way out. Get off at the 3360m Service Center. From there: → Enter the food and souvenir building. → Walk inside. → Go up to the 2nd Floor. → You’ll find 3360 Cafe ☕️. It’s not just a cafe area; there are also spots to rest and cultural sections about Tibet to explore. For me, it’s not a cafe you need to visit the mountain specifically for, but if you’re already there, I think it’s worth setting aside some time on your way down to stop by. Explore all day → Get off the bus → Sip some coffee → Stare at the mountains → Then exit the park 🏔️☕️. For photography enthusiasts, you hardly need to look for good angles here—every step you take offers a postcard-perfect backdrop, from the lush forests and emerald lakes to the valley villages and snow-dusted mountain crevices. The best part, in my opinion, is that you don't need to be a mountain climber to experience its grandeur. Then you must save this guide—Baoxing, Ya’an · Changhai Lake (Baokang route), a glacial alpine lake hidden in the heart of the “Sichuan version of Duku Highway.” Snow-capped mountains, meadows, streams, yaks, wildflowers, and a lake so blue it’s unreal—all in one view. No shops along the way. Bring at least 2 liters of water, beef jerky, and chocolate packed. Trash bags are a must. Leave no trace! We went during the fall foliage season, and the atmosphere while rafting was absolutely stunning. You get to take in the mountains, the streams, and the beautiful yellow and orange trees lining both sides. 🍂 📍 Where is the rafting spot? When we went, the rafting starting point was at Bus Stop 4. The shuttle buses inside the park will take you to different scenic spots. You can hop off to explore each area and just catch the next bus when you're ready. 🚣 Rafting Costs 90 RMB/person (around 400+ THB). The ride takes about 15 minutes. You'll be on a rubber tube floating down the stream. It's not an extreme whitewater rafting experience—it's more about sitting back, enjoying the scenery, taking photos, and just chilling with the view. 😂 🍁 Is it worth it? For us, totally worth it! Especially if you visit during autumn, because the views along the banks are gorgeous. Today I'll be reviewing three major national parks in Sichuan Province: 1. Four Sisters National Park 2. Bipenggou National Park 3. Dagu Glacier National Park Travel Review 🚊 1. Four Sisters National Park: From Chengdu, 5 hours or more. 2. Bipenggou National Park: From Chengdu, 4 hours or more. 3. Dagu Glacier National Park: From Chengdu, 5-6 hours or more. There are also buses from Chengdu, and you can take a taxi to the park. Personally, I think both methods are equally convenient. Recommended Duration of Stays 🕝 1. Four Sisters National Park: 2 days, 1 night. Hiking both Changpinggou and Shuangqiaogou trails requires at least 1.5 days + 1 night stay. 2. Bipenggou National Park: A day trip from your accommodation is sufficient. 4-5 hours of walking is enough. There are shuttles available. 3. Dagu Glacier National Park: A day trip, no overnight stay required. Take the cable car up. Highlights of each location ⭐️ 1. Si Da Rueang (Four Sisters Mountain): Spacious, with shuttle service alternating with walking trails. Stunningly beautiful and large mountains with diverse views. Not crowded. 2. Bipenggou: Smaller than the others, more crowded, but with a park shuttle service available. Not much walking involved, and has a ski slope. 3. Dagu Glacier: Very high, requiring a transfer to a cable car. The top is all snow! Not very vast, but windy and cold, though there are buildings for shelter. Quite crowded at the top. Aesthetics 🏔️ 1. Si Da Rueang: 10/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 2. Bipenggou: 7/10. A good quick stop, but the nature isn't spectacular. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3. Dagu Glacier: 7/10. Not as amazing as expected. But it's worth the trip! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The exhaustion from hiking through the parks 🚶🏻♀️ 1. Four Maidens: Extremely tiring! My legs were killing me. Lots of rest needed. 2. Bipenggou: Relaxing and easygoing. 3. Dagu Glacier: Relaxing and easygoing. Precautions 💡 All three locations are quite high with low oxygen levels. Prepare yourself by getting plenty of rest and bring oxygen canisters. Those prone to altitude sickness should take allergy medication before visiting any of the three places. Also, be careful of the winding roads between the parks. Those who get motion sickness easily should take motion sickness medication. 😁 P.S. If you go in winter, be prepared with warm clothing. All three locations are cold and windy.
