Stopped in for a drink before heading up—the bar had live music, decent buzz but quiet enough upstairs. John’s team were sound, made us feel properly looked after. Had a nice glass of red with the seafood chowder, worked well together. One of the better spots in Newport, no fuss.

Fish and chips were alright, nothing special for a coastal place. Chips tasted a bit frozen tbh. Portions okay, not huge. Bathroom was spotless though, fair play. Seating area felt a bit cramped, not the easiest to move around if you've got a buggy or wheelchair. Fine for a quick bite.
