A lovely family-run place. The staff are so friendly, they really make you feel welcome. It's a very comfortable spot to have a quiet meal. The tables are well-spaced, which I appreciated.

Stumbled upon this place exploring York. A real find. The staff were so attentive, remembered my name after the first order. Felt very personal, not like just another table.

The omelette was really good! Loved that the eggs were local. The cakes aren't too sweet either, which is nice for sharing.

The panini was spot on. Brie and cranberry with bacon, exactly what I wanted. The bread was soft, not dried out like you sometimes get. Decaf tea was good too. Service was quick and friendly, no complaints there.

Tried the schnitzel here on a whim. It was crisp, not greasy at all, and came with this really nice potato salad. The cakes in the display looked gorgeous too. A solid find for something a bit different.

Hugh's cooking was the highlight. The portions are generous, and the service was spot on. My fish was cooked just right, not dry at all. A solid meal.

My son's gluten-free panini was a real treat. The bread was surprisingly soft, not dry at all. The filling looked fresh and generous. Came with a decent side salad and crisps too. He was very happy with it.

Came across this place because of the incredible smell wafting down the street! Had to try it. The ice cream dessert was the real standout for me – never tasted anything quite like it. Really interesting texture and flavour combo.

The carrot cake was decent, not too sweet. But the real standout was the coconut dessert the barista suggested. Incredibly soft texture, best I've had. Service was spot-on with that recommendation.

Stopped by for lunch and ordered the lasagne. The pasta tasted so fresh, you could tell it was made in-house. The sauce had a lovely depth of flavour without being too heavy. A really nice, balanced meal.

Been coming here for years. The seafood options are always spot on and a nice change from the usual curry house stuff.

I stop by with my dog almost every week. The staff are so friendly, and the croissants are always fresh and flaky. It's a nice little spot to unwind for a bit.

The team really made our engagement feel special. They surprised us with a complimentary glass of bubbles, which was a lovely touch. The cocktails we ordered were spot on too – a well-balanced negroni is a great way to start an evening like that.

Popped in for a quick pint. Ended up staying way longer because of the live blues from 'Bad Saloon'. Great vibe, friendly crowd. Solid tap list too. Just what I needed.

Cosy spot with a relaxed vibe. The wine list had some interesting local options that paired nicely with the evening.

Lovely old building near the Shambles. The kids' lunch menu was a lifesaver for our little one, decent portions and simple stuff they'd actually eat. Made the whole thing much more relaxed.

Been coming here for years, and the pizza's always spot on. Noticed they've kept the prices fair even with everything going up lately. That's rare these days.

A proper old pub, the kind that feels lived-in. The cellar's the thing though - they've got Dick Turpin's coffin down there. A bit of a weird, but interesting, touch to the place.

Been coming here for years, and the live music nights are what keep me coming back. It's always a good vibe, not too loud, just right for a relaxed evening. The band last Friday was spot on.

Great spot for a pint inside the city walls. Their rotating cask ales are the main draw for me – tried a lovely local bitter that paired perfectly with the relaxed, historic vibe. Live music some nights adds to the atmosphere. A solid choice.

Large lamb doner for two, still had leftovers. Good size, not greasy which is a plus. The salad was crisp and fresh. Decent value for the money.

Found this spot on a food tour. Their pistachio gelato was spot on, creamy and rich. The server suggested a glass of vin santo to go with it – a brilliant pairing that really brought out the nutty notes. Made for a lovely afternoon pause.

A nice little spot for a coffee break. The staff were very friendly and the vintage decor is quite cosy. It did get a bit warm inside on a busy afternoon, but overall a pleasant place to relax.

Quick lunch spot with decent jacket potatoes. The toppings are a nice touch, and it's handy for a hot or cold bite.

The coffee was a bit weak for my taste, but the pastries were spot on. The croissant had a perfect flaky texture, not too buttery. The chocolate filling in the pain au chocolat was rich without being overly sweet. I'd go back just for those.

Been coming here for years, quality is always decent. The takeaway option is handy too. It’s a reliable spot, though the dining area can feel a bit cramped at times.
