Built between 1670 and 1684, the first church in the Bahamas was destroyed and rebuilt many times until it stood in 1724. It was rebuilt again in 1740 and later expanded to become a cathedral. The tall stained glass windows were custom made in France and the granite floors were from Italy. We had not opened the door when we went, and a staff member specially opened the door in advance to welcome us to visit. The church was silent, and the colored windows depicted the crucifixion of Christ left reflections on the ground.
