Like many other buildings in Germany, the old town hall was not immune to the war, and was ruthlessly destroyed in World War II. But the Germans have a habit of backing up things, and the drawings of important buildings are naturally backed up. After the war, they were rebuilt according to the drawings. So if you count the actual construction years, the old town hall is not old at all. There is also a toy museum upstairs.
