Zappeion Review

In 1869, the Greek Parliament used 80,000 square meters of land between the Palace Gardens and the ancient temple of Olympia Zeus for the construction of the Olympic Games, so the Palace of Zapión was the first building dedicated to the modern Olympics. The old Panasinak stadium was also renovated as part of the Olympic project. On January 20, 1874, the new Greek-rejuvenated building was laid the foundation, designed by Danish architect Theofer Hansen. The Austrian Parliament building, also designed by Hansen, was designed in the same style. Construction of the Zapion Palace was interrupted several times.
