A beautiful walk in the fall
Imagine the armies facing off in this valley. We visited in the fall when the colors were changing. Gorgeous views juxtapose the imagination of bloodshed.
There is a parking area off the road with a historic marker explaining the events that took place. Worth a stop especially if you are a Civil war history enthusiast.
In addition to the McLean House (reconstructed), where Lee surrendered to Grant, there are several other buildings in the park - many of which were constructed prior to the Civil War. Some you can tou...
The end came here. Walk around and take in all that occurred here and at the McLean House. It's amazing to think of the heroes on both sides were once right here in 1865.
