Henan Travel | One-Day Tour Guide to Shaolin Temple.
One-Day Tour Guide to Shaolin Temple. Shaolin Kung Fu is world-renowned, and Shaolin Temple is a pilgrimage site for many. As a tourist destination, Shaolin Temple can be tricky to navigate, so here’s a guide to help you avoid pitfalls and make the most of your visit. Highly recommended to like, comment, and share!
Shaolin Temple is located between Zhengzhou and Luoyang, about 60 kilometers from Luoyang (approximately 1.5 hours) and about 88 kilometers from Zhengzhou (approximately 2 hours). It’s slightly closer if you start from Luoyang (Luoyang’s attractions are also great, and Laojun Mountain recently waived its entrance fee, making it a must-visit in Henan).
① A relaxed itinerary: Shaolin Temple Main Courtyard—Pagoda Forest—Sanhuang Village—Shaolin Kung Fu Performance (suitable for those who don’t exercise regularly but want to occasionally, like Liu Yifei fans)
② An adventurous itinerary: Sanhuang Village South Entrance—Pagoda Forest—Shaolin Temple Main Courtyard—Shaolin Kung Fu Performance (suitable for fitness enthusiasts and hiking experts)
Essentials for the trip: Currently, a 48-hour negative nucleic acid test result is required for those coming from outside the province, hiking shoes, trekking poles, gloves, warm packs, a thermos, sunglasses, sunscreen, and snacks like chocolate.
Travel tips: The Shaolin Temple ticket includes three parts: the Main Courtyard, the Kung Fu Performance, and Sanhuang Village. The ticket needs to be checked three times, so keep it safe (especially for itinerary ②, don’t lose your ticket).
Upon arriving at the Shaolin Temple parking lot, walk to the Shaolin Archway. The ticket office is on the left side of the archway, and there are restrooms and specialty shops on the right. After getting your ticket, the first ticket checkpoint is just past the archway.
Follow the crowd for about 600 meters, and on the right is the Shaolin Martial Arts Hall (a must-see, absolutely spectacular! Performances are usually held every half hour, but sometimes only twice in the morning. Check with the ticket office for the exact schedule).
Continue walking for about 900 meters to reach the Main Courtyard of Shaolin Temple, the ancestral home of Zen Buddhism. It’s small but rich in history, so it’s worth hiring a guide.
Highlight 1: Lixue Pavilion, where a Shaolin monk performs a one-handed Buddhist salute, commemorating the spirit of the second patriarch of Zen Buddhism, Huike, who cut off his arm to seek the Dharma.
Highlight 2: Thousand Buddha Hall, where the stone brick floor has 48 indentations left by martial arts practice.
After visiting the temple, continue walking for about 400 meters, and on the right is the Pagoda Forest (the cemetery for Shaolin monks).
After visiting these attractions, you’ve covered about 80% of the ticket value, which takes about 2 hours if you explore thoroughly. Next, head to Sanhuang Village for hiking. Buy the more expensive Shaolin Cableway ticket at the right-hand entrance (the cheaper Songyang Cableway leads to the Second Patriarch’s Temple, which is several peaks away from Sanhuang Village).
Take the Shaolin Cableway (about 15 minutes) and continue walking to Shuce Cliff (the most beautiful section, highly recommended!). Reaching this point covers the remaining 20% of the ticket value. Generally, you can turn back at the blue suspension bridge, which takes about 1.5 hours to return. Beyond this point, the trail involves steep ascents and descents, with the steepest steps at about 70°.
For itinerary ②, start from the South Entrance of Sanhuang Village. After passing the ticket checkpoint, you’ll encounter steps at about 60°. The scenery is fantastic, and it takes about 3 hours at a normal walking pace to reach the Pagoda Forest. This itinerary is essentially the reverse of itinerary ①. By the time you descend, you’ll likely be too tired to visit other attractions like Damo Cave, the Second Patriarch’s Temple, and Songyang Academy, which are on other peaks. Therefore, itinerary ① is recommended for a more comprehensive and cost-effective visit.
A very nice place at China Chengzhou, nice view with quiet environment, you can see Chinese Kung Fu there, come to enjoy with your family, it’s really worth
Deeply deeply commercialized the popularity of Shaolin Temple and its brand benefits. Secondly, Shaolin Temple is already the Shaolin Temple of the world. Martial arts schools are everywhere in and around it, and those children have no worries in the eyes of the children in the city, only firmness. Busan must have a ropeway, the scenery is spectacular, do not count fortune on the top of the mountain.
Commercial Shaolin Temple, but the children are still worth visiting. The students have been training in the wind and rain, and they are very hard. Children love to watch the performance at the door, and they will go climbing next time.
Only play Shaolin Temple self-driving guide Today, I drive to Shaolin Temple by myself, only play Shaolin Temple. The introduction on the Internet is complicated and not easy to understand. Tell everyone your own practice and hope to help. 1. Navigate to Shaolin Temple (mountain gate) by car, showing only pedestrians, regardless of it. Just press the navigation and open it, and finally go to a parking lot. Follow the sign and walk 100 meters to the ticket office.1.3 kilometers away from Shaolin Temple Mountain Gate. 2. How to say it, it feels normal, take a photo at the door, the monument forest is quite beautiful, it is almost clearing, the inside is full of white yellow, the photo is not suitable. Let's talk about Shangshaoshi Mountain. Tourists who have not gone must be optimistic (knock on the blackboard): Go to Sanhuangzhai to take the cable car. The normal cable car that bought tickets today is fully enclosed, 100 round trips. When I was about to go up the mountain, I first encountered a cable car, a high house number, or an elevator archway. It looked quite formal. I didn’t look at the ticket and let me go in. I went in and took pictures for free. Of course, it must be expensive to come out. The biggest problem is that it looks a bit broken after entering. The railings are also very old, the sign says two people and one car, I think the cable car is so small? Look at the old-fashioned cable car semi-closed small cable car, the ticket inspector does not look at the ticket first said: you come to me and you said (I heard it is not good) She said that the cable car ticket was bought wrong, their cable car is 120, I bought 100, must buy again or make up 20, I said: what about the 100 cable car? She said: 100 cable cars are all climbing mountains, but still far away. I firmly do not take her cable car, she said: You are up. I said: It is not a big deal. I go down. Going 40 meters ahead of the door is the ticket gate of the rail cable car. It is really too good to cut off passengers halfway. Don't be fooled. You must take the 100 fully enclosed cable car, and the fully enclosed one is to go to Sanhuangzhai. The 120 small cable car is Erzu Xuan, she will not tell you, And it is a small cable car along the hillside. Don't be fooled because you have already arrived at the ticket gate. It can't be big. It's very close to the formal place.
