All exhibition have both Chinese and English text.From floor 1 till floor 4 you'll experience a chronological story of people leaving China, to them establishing overseas up untill returning Chinese because of revolutions, wars, poverty or to bring their prosperity and experience back to their home country. All stories are related to the Cantonese community, focussed on the Guangdong region, with Guangzhou in particular. If you like learning about politics, aviation, military, social norms, food and the connection between east and west. You really can't miss this. One of the best museums I've ever been to!

从广东省博物馆赶去海珠广场,那里有1个刚刚开张的新博物馆-广州华侨博物馆,地铁站步行过去100米,暴雨将我淋得湿透,博物馆原址为五仙门发电厂,用实物/图片详述了广州华侨奋斗史,以及八仙门发电厂的沿革,感觉很棒。

五仙门发电厂旧址位于越秀区沿江西路421号附近,始建于1901年,现存占地面积约2636㎡,建筑面积约8482㎡,是华南地区最早的商办电厂,也是广州历史上第一座火力发电厂。 因位于明清时广州城南门五仙门附近,民间俗称五仙门发电厂。2008年,五仙门发电厂旧址列入广州市文物保护单位,之后确定为广州华侨博物馆功能使用。 五仙门发电厂对于广州民生的改善起到了非常重要的作用,据说海珠大戏院正是因为有了电厂发电才先后用上水银灯和射灯以及麦克风。 广州最早有电灯的地方,便是越秀一带,五仙门发电厂建成之后的30年后,广州才兴建了另外两座大型发电厂。
俗话说: 三百六十行,行行出状元。 “三百六十行”乃是对街坊市井各种谋生行当的通称,泛指行业之多,并无定数。 广州华侨博物馆里展出的这个展览,全套360件,由英籍华人收藏家赵泰来先生捐赠。这套瓷板画主要采用红黄蓝黑等多种颜料绘制,用简洁的艺术表现形式,生动展示了广州趣味盎然的市井生活和世情百态。为方便观赏,展馆将这套三百六十行粉彩瓷板画大致分为农、工、商、乐、杂五大类进行展示。
