Shengping Theater

Theatre of Shengping was originally called the Liping Block, which is a two-story structure, a stone structure on the first floor, and a brick and wood structure on the second floor. The two floors have a total of about 600 seats. In the golden age of Jiufen, the Liping Theatre has been very vocal every holiday, which makes it the most lively area of Jiufen.

Shengping Theatre, located at the intersection of Qingbian Road and Shaoqi Road in Ruifang District, New Taipei City, Taiwan, was built in 1931 (Showa 6) for theater performances and film screenings, and was the most important permanent entertainment center in Jinjiu at that time. After the war, the name of the Shengping Theatre was rebuilt in the 1960s. After the gradual depression of mining and the population moved out, it gradually fell. It was closed in 1986. The ownership was changed several times. Finally, the owner donated it to the New North City Government in 2009. After the renovation project, it was re-opened in August 2011. The New North City Gold Museum is now responsible for the operation and management.

The Shengping Theatre, formerly known as Shengping Block, was first built in 1914. In 1934, locals invested in the reconstruction of the current site at the intersection of Shaqi Road and Light Road. The Xinshengping Theatre is a two-story structure, with stone and wood on the first floor and about 600 seats on the two floors. In the golden age of Jiufen, Shengping Theatre was full every holiday. It is said that at that time, singing, movies, cloth bags and other performances took turns, so that the whole month of Shengping Theatre was full. Ruifang and Jinguashi residents also came to see the play. Holidays can even reach two or three thousand people a day to buy tickets to see the play, which makes the surrounding area of Shengping Theatre the most lively area of nine.

Taiwan's famous director Hou Hsiao-hsien's film "Sad City" filmed the main scene - Shengping Theatre. It opened in 1934 and ended mining in Jinguayao in 1971 because of nine copies. The theatre also closed in 1986. Make it a roof-less, desolate theatre with mixed feelings. After the government took over, the renovated Shengping Theatre reopened. The theatre is roughly based on the original structure and materials used. The stone slab walls on the first floor and the hollow bricks on the second floor still retain their original appearance, the structure is strengthened, and the overall feeling remains nostalgic. The results after renovation are commendable. Seats, with the use of space and the comfort of visitors, currently more than 200 indoor seats. There is a charcoal film projector in the theatre, which is an antique projector left over from that year. It is quite rare now. The sales department still looks like that, with all kinds of drinks and snacks on display inside at the same time. Looking closely at the refrigerator in those days, it is necessary to put ice cubes into the iron cabinet to freeze food.

The bustling theater faded in the nine-point night very indifferent, retreating in a corner, like a retired general who has seen the world.
