You may have seen some district public television student solo programs. Very high quality free concerts. It is located in a two-story building in a trendy upscale neighborhood of Denhouse Square in Philadelphia. Curtis is a small elite conservatory of music that trains great musicians. Specially, every student who is admitted receives a full scholarship. Worth a visit. There is a copy of Rebrett's The Night Watch in the hall.

A relative came here to school, so I followed it around. The location is very good, the world-class music college, the dormitory is new and good... there are free concerts three times a week! Great!

The level of performance of this summer feast is really amazing, it is really worthy of being one of the world's top music schools. There is really nothing better than this, really! The audience was very engaged and excited about the experience, as was my friends and I. Curtis is awesome! The musicians and the new composers are awesome! The presentations on the stage are just right. If you like classical music and are in Philadelphia, it is absolutely necessary to come to Curtis for a concert. The concert is an electronic concert, with both new and Brahms music, and costs only $15.

Very nice building but more importantly there are outstanding musicians. Get a list of student concerts and go for one or two. These are free but the performances are great. If you love music too, then you should go to Curties.

Am a graduate of Curtis. Had a good experience there in that I was given the opportunity to perform a lot, right from the beginning of my two year academic career. The most exciting part was be given the opportunity to work with well respected composers and conductors, such as Gian Carlo Menotti. As far as my one on one training, I was allowed to choose for myself who I wanted as my teacher, which is a big mistake for any young musician, although it did allow me to try different teachers. However, this does not necessarily help matters. As a result I got by with my natural talent instead of gaining a solid technique. Some time ago I learned of a another students experience who also happened to be my classmate. After leaving the school she recounted her own experiences at Curtis when she exposed one of their faculty members for having abused her. She was much younger than I during her brief time there and so unable to handle such a trama. However, we students knew nothing of it at the time as the school’s authorities covered up the whole thing. Shame on you Curtis, for allowing this to happen. Once was for me a beautiful experience is now stained by this unforgivable incident, to say nothing of my poor classmate.
