Zuibai Pond Park
✅Zuibai Pond in Songjiang, along with Yu Garden in Shanghai, Guyi Garden in Jiading, Qiuxia Garden, and Qu Shui Garden in Qingpu, are known as the five major classical gardens in Shanghai, and it is the oldest among them.
✅The predecessor of Zuibai Pond was the private garden of Zhu Zhichun, a Jinshi in Songjiang during the Song Dynasty, named 'Gulyang Garden'. At the end of the Ming Dynasty (1644 AD), Dong Qichang, a famous calligrapher and painter in Songjiang and the Minister of Rites, built the 'Four-sided Hall', 'Yifang' and other buildings here. Later in the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, the famous painter Gu Dashen rebuilt this place, with a rectangular lotus pond as the main body, and built the pond bank with irregular symmetry and other gardening techniques, with bamboo, plum, rockery, and strange stones complementing each other, creating the famous Zuibai Pond in Jiangnan.
✅Zuibai Pond maintains the style of Ming and Qing gardens in Jiangnan. The garden is centered around a pool of water, with curved corridors and pavilions on three sides of the pool. The winding paths in the garden are antique, and the reflections of the pavilions and ancient trees have a unique charm.
✅Zuibai Pond is not only a beautiful place, but also a long-standing cultural treasure. The park preserves many ancient buildings and mural stone carvings and steles. The wall of the long corridor on the south side of the pond is inlaid with the stone carving of 'Yunjian Bangyan Portrait', engraved with the portraits and praises of ninety-one local talents from various counties under Songjiang Prefecture from the Yuan to the early Qing Dynasty.
✅There are many camphor trees in the garden with trunks that are two or three people thick. The posture and texture of these old trees are full of traces of time and historical memory.
✅In the garden, there are 'Chi Shang Cao Tang', 'Yulan Court', 'Carved Flower Hall', 'Four-sided Hall', 'Shulu Garden', 'Woshu Xuan' and other ten scenes.
✅Zuibai Pond Park is a comprehensive public space that combines natural scenery, historical and cultural heritage, and artistic expression. Its beauty and cultural connotations attract countless tourists to experience.
