Inside the temple, there are four exhibition halls introducing the life and deeds of Liu Zongyuan, as well as a hall with stele inscriptions copied from various districts and counties of Yongzhou, all worth a visit, and you can also listen in on the explanations others have paid for. 2 Gubu Tan - Xi Xiaoqiu - Xiaoshitan Site (P4-P6) Visiting duration: 0.5-1 hour Admission: Free Highlights: Turn right out of Liuzi Temple and walk straight ahead on Liuzi Street for about 5 minutes, and you'll arrive at the place where Liu Zongyuan wrote 'Gubu Tan Ji', 'Xi Xiaoqiu Ji', and 'Xiaoshitan Ji'. This Wen Temple is not as complete as Ningyuan Wen Temple, with only one Dacheng Hall and two steles behind it. The corridor in front of Dacheng Hall has four relief-carved dragon and phoenix stone columns and two openwork dragon-patterned wooden columns, with cute carvings of fairy deer and lions on top of the stone columns. A whole beam above the columns is carved with several long dragons, making the whole structure exquisitely gorgeous. The caisson ceiling paintings inside the hall were painted in the 1980s and are brightly colored. 4 Yongzhou Wu Temple (P10) Visiting duration: 0.5 hour Admission: Free Highlights: Wu Temple is located inside Dongshan Park, most of the buildings are modern reconstructions, only the main hall of Wu Temple is an ancient building from the late Qing Dynasty. The main hall is relatively simple, without too much decoration. In front of the hall, there is a Baosha, and the corridor has two carved bluestone columns with dragons holding treasure beads in their mouths. The dragon heads are huge and are the largest stone-carved dragon heads I've seen in Yongzhou.

Yongzhou Cuisine In a place where delicious food is everywhere, there's generally no need for a special food guide. Just pick any restaurant that looks appealing, and as long as the ingredients are fresh, even a simple stir-fry can be delicious. Try the Yongzhou Luos, also known as Yongzhou Suoluo, a famous dish in Hunan's Yongzhou. The locals have been eating Luos for over two thousand years. The soup in Luos is quite savory, and with a sip and a slurp, the snail meat comes right out, allowing you to taste the chewy, crunchy, and refreshing snail meat and the spicy deliciousness of the soup. 🚘Transportation: Direct high-speed train access. I didn't know until my second visit to Yongzhou that the ancient city of Yongzhou is located in Lingling District. Last time I went to the northern Lengshuitan District, which is more than twenty kilometers away from Lingling. The ancient city of Lingling has been established as the earliest administrative division of Yongzhou since the Western Han Dynasty, for over two thousand years. It is also widely known thanks to Liu Zongyuan's 'The Story of the Snake Catcher' and 'A Record of a Little Stone Pool' being included in Chinese textbooks. Liu Zongyuan was demoted to Yongzhou for ten years, leaving behind the famous 'Eight Records of Yongzhou,' with 'A Record of a Little Stone Pool' being one of them. The Liuzi Temple is the best memorial the people of Yongzhou have for him, and not far upstream from the temple is the location of the Little Stone Pool. In order to recreate the scenery of the Little Stone Pool, the Yongzhou government blew up the dam that submerged it, which is in line with the repeated destruction and reconstruction of the Liuzi Temple. On both sides of the Yu Creek in the ancient city of Lingling, the ancient streets and lanes blend with the newly built antique-style architectural district. The pleasure boats on Yu Creek and tourists dressed in ancient costumes have become a scenic spot in the ancient city. Walking down along Yu Creek, you can reach the confluence with the Xiao River, which is especially beautiful at night. The confluence of the Xiao River and the Xiang River has a small island with a Pingzhou Academy on it. To get there, you need to take a ferry, which costs 20 for a round trip, and the entrance fee for Pingzhou Academy is 40. We didn't go to the island but walked along the riverside path to an abandoned ferry dock, where the view of the Xiao and Xiang rivers converging is also very beautiful. Yongzhou Prefecture's Lingling is a place greatly favored by classical literature, and it was in Lingling that Liu Zongyuan wrote his most brilliant essays and poems, collectively known as the 'Eight Records of Yongzhou'. Stepping out of the profound courtyard of the Liu Zi Temple and strolling up and down along Yu Creek, with Cobalt Blue Pool on one side and Little Stone Pool at the head, one after another familiar literary allusion unfolds before your eyes, and the image of Liu Zongyuan, a literary master who was deeply concerned for his country and its people and possessed extraordinary talent, gradually looms larger. Crossing the Lingling East Wind Bridge that spans the Xiao River, the ancient city of Lingling, which has been built with great effort, is now complete. Like any other ancient town tourist area, it is full of snack shops and travel photography costume stores, and there is even a far-fetched 'Former Residence of Xing Daorong' marked on the map. Passing through the newly built part of Lingling Ancient City, you reach Liu Zi Street, which still retains its traditional appearance on both sides of Yu Creek, and Liu Zi Temple is located here. Life on this street is now mundane, but once it was the official road of the Xiang-Gui corridor. The misty river next to Liu Zi Street is Yu Creek. Under the arch bridge in front of Liu Zi Temple, dense artificial smoke is sometimes released, which looks quite interesting from a distance. Going deeper, among the residential houses, there is a small abandoned dam. Behind the dam, Yu Creek truly takes on a quiet and secluded atmosphere, with Cobalt Blue Pool, West Little Hill, and Little Stone Pool unfolding one after another along the creek bank. Among the famous mountains and rivers, the small Yu Creek may seem ordinary, but it embodies the essential strength of Liu Zongyuan in his adversity, and can be said to be an allegorical explanation of the saying 'A person can enhance the way, but the way does not enhance the person'. It is the power of literature that enriches this creek with an everlasting scholarly status. The end of this Yu Creek journey is the Jie Xiao Pavilion, which once provided rest for travelers on the Xiang-Gui official road. Starting from Liu Zi Temple, even with a leisurely stroll, it takes only about half an hour to complete. From the jumping rocks at Little Stone Pool, one can cross to the other side of Yu Creek, truly embodying the sense of 'becoming islets and rocks, crags and boulders'. Liu Zongyuan's attitude of 'walking leisurely and wandering aimlessly' in his 'First Experience of Banqueting in the Western Hills' has also deeply entered the hearts of the people of Lingling. Even the three-wheeled pedicabs that roam the streets and alleys are called 'slow tours'. The charm of Lingling lies in its slowness and simplicity, in the cold river and evening rain, in the pursuit of a broad and open heart amidst the melancholy of the mountains and waters. There are three brick and wood structures in the temple, with a stage in front, a yongdao in the middle, and a rear hall from the yongdao. The temple has Liu Zongyuan's historical events, stone carvings rubbings and back garden, from the front hall to the back garden, quite charming. In the evening, I visited Liu Zi Street next to Liu Zi Temple. Liu Zi Street is 550 meters long, built in the Tang Dynasty, flourished in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, was the official road in the ancient Xianggui thoroughfare, the street buildings are mostly Ming and Qing ancient buildings, now there are still well-preserved old buildings, but they have all become rental shops for ancient costumes and coffee shops, you can rent a set to take some ancient costumes here. On the second day, from Lingling Ancient City to Jiangyong Nvshu Garden, here is the only 'female text' found in human beings so far——Jiangyong Nvshu, which is a national intangible cultural heritage, composed of female characters, female songs, female red and its inherited folk customs, forming a rich and three-dimensional female book custom. Nvshu Garden is located on Puwei Island, known as 'Nvshu Resurrection Island', 15 kilometers away from Jiangyong County; surrounded by Xiaoshui on all sides, with beautiful scenery and simple folk customs, entering Nvshu Garden is like entering a peach blossom source, far away from the hustle and bustle and complexity of the world, only the beautiful scenery and rich historical atmosphere.
