Near by Tokyo. Great place to experience the nature and history for families

The place is located within the beach of Kamakura. It actually is a ruins of the historical port of Kamakura from early 13th century. You can experience not only the history but a lots of sea creature...

The oldest and oldest port facility in Japan is a superb view point

    Original Text

It is a superb view point where you can see Mt. Fuji and Enoshima from the edge of Wakaejima and Zaimokuza coast. There are few people, the wind is calm, the first morning, the evening sunset, and the crowded people with cameras and tripods. Especially, there are many people at the timing of Diamond Fuji. Wakaejima is about the depth of the thigh ~ when it is a big tide, so you can walk, and it is crowded with children in spring and autumn by playing on the tide.

It is the site of a port built during the Kamakura period.

    Original Text

If you run on National Highway 134 toward Zushi, come to the front of the tunnel, and look at the sea side, you will see a shallow beach. This is called Wagaejima, the site of a port built by a monk called Oamida Buddha during the Kamakura period. And the timber carried by ship was unloaded here and carried to Kamakura. It is an important ruins.

    There are few visitors.

    Original Text

「 Wakaejima 」 (Wakae no Shimasha is Wakaejima). "Azuma Kagami" is also Wakaejima. In "Shinhen Sagami Kuni Fudoki Shu", "Wakae no Shima" is accompanied by a pretense. During the Kamakura period, it prospered as a gateway to the sea and was also a commercial area. It's a very quiet beach now, and I don't feel the remnants of the past, but I can't afford it because there aren't many visitors.

    It's submerged at high tide.

    Original Text

Do you know Wakaejima? This is an artificial island located in the eastern part of Sagami Bay, and the Yuigahama coast is on the west side and the Zaimoza coast is on the east side on the border of the Namikawa River, which runs north-south through the city of Kamakura, and it is submerged immediately at high tide. It is designated as the oldest existing port ruins. The scenic and wonderful scenery leading to the coastline is attractive.
