It is also know as the Dragon Temple because of the life-sized dragon wrapped around the temple. There are still many tourists coming here even it is already outside Bangkok. This is in Nakhon Pathom, stop by when you will go to Damnoen Saduak floating market. Dragon Temple 🐉 is located a hour drive west of Bangkok. it’s one of the most particular buildings I’ve ever seen. We climbed through the body of the dragon all the way to the rooftop where we watched an incredible sunset.

This creatively formed dragon-temple lies just a few hours outside of Thailand’s capital city, Bangkok. It also makes for an excellent photo from above!

The Dragon Temple (Wat Sampran), also known as Sampran Dragon Temple, is located about 40km west of Bangkok, Thailand. The temple has a total of 17 floors and is wrapped by a huge hollow blue dragon, which looks very domineering and mysterious. It is reported that the history of the temple's construction is still a mystery, and some records indicate that the temple only accepts 108 monks, and many devout people come to worship every day. I found that there are many female monks here, and although the dragon temple is very domineering, it seems that only ladies can enter for a visit. As I was about to take off my shoes to go in, a male monk ran over and told me: Only women to go in. ⭕️Exploration Guide: 🐉Location: Wat Sampran Dragon Temple, Khlong Mai, Sam Phran District, Nakhon Pathom, Thailand. 🐉Transportation: 🚌To get there: Take the BTS to the last stop, Bangwa Station, and exit towards gates 3-4. There is a staircase near gate 4 that leads down to the main road. After descending the first set of stairs, turn left to another staircase that takes you down to the main road below. Cross the overpass diagonally to the opposite side and walk towards the main road until you see a gas station. Continue forward to find the Bus station, then take the yellow air-conditioned bus number 84 (not the red one). If unsure, ask the subway station staff. Show a picture of the Dragon Temple to the ticket seller on the bus and ask her to remind you to get off. The fare is 24 Thai Baht, and the drop-off point is opposite BENYAPHAT SCHOOL, with the Dragon Temple behind the school. The trip is less crowded and the bus doesn't stop much, taking about 48 minutes. 🚌To return: Take bus number 84 from the bus stop on the left side of the Dragon Temple entrance back to Bangwa subway station. The return trip is busier and can take over an hour due to traffic. ⭕️Exploration Story: The temple is particularly quiet, very suitable for meditation and purifying the mind. That day, many female monks dressed in white came to worship, and there were almost no tourists. The female monks were very happy to see me. One of the female monks told me the best angle for taking photos and even took me to a small bamboo grove to photograph another guardian elephant 🐘. The combined shot of the elephant and the dragon was too stunning. Another good spot for photos is the building with the golden Buddha statue; just take off your shoes to go upstairs. Although there are signs at the temple indicating dress requirements for men and women, a male monk stopped me and said that only ladies are allowed to enter for a visit. ⭕️TIPS: 🔘The best spot to capture the entire view of the Dragon Temple is on the right side of the school in front of the temple, down Sam Phran 5 alley. 🔘There is a roadside restaurant between the alley and the school that serves authentic suburban cuisine that is delicious end～The Dragon Temple is full of mystery and its magnificent splendor is awe-inspiring. Ever since I saw this Dragon Temple on Instagram a few years ago, it has been constantly on my mind. I've been to Bangkok several times but always missed it. This time, with the visa-free city walk in Thailand, my wish finally came true! 📍Wat Sam Phran, also known as the Thai Dragon Temple, is located in Sam Phran District, on the western outskirts of Bangkok. Address: 92 Sam Phran, Sam Phran District, Nakhon Pathom. 🚗Transportation: Grab. We took a taxi from Khao San Road and it cost about 500 Thai baht, taking about 40 minutes. 👔Dress code: Try not to dress too revealingly. Shoes need to be removed before entering the temple. 💰Entrance fee: There is no entrance fee, but at the wish-making area, you will be asked to make a donation and write your wish. There are also several other donation points inside, so it's recommended to have some change with you. Apart from the wish-making area and the donation at the top, I didn't donate anywhere else (because I didn't have any change left 😂). 🌟The Dragon Temple is actually a nunnery with pink walls and a dragon winding its way up. It looks very unique and spectacular from afar. You can climb up along the dragon's body (a total of 11 floors) to reach the roof for prayers. Surprisingly, there are also many giant statues guarding the temple. 🌟Tips: 1. Shoes need to be removed before entering. The interior of the dragon's body is quite simple, with bare concrete floors and fans for ventilation on each floor. It's not too stuffy walking up. Once you reach the roof, you can also make a donation to receive gold foil to stick on the Buddha statue. 2. Remember to have some change with you. We didn't have any and ended up donating a lot 😂. 3. There are many giant statues next to the Dragon Temple. You can take photos with them if you like. 4. Apart from the giant architecture, there are also giant lizards. One suddenly appeared behind me when I was taking photos, which scared me a bit. 5. It's quite difficult to get a taxi back. We waited for 30 minutes before we could get one. Remember to allow enough time for your return journey.

Finally we had the chance to visit this famous dragon temple. it was not too hard to reach, it took us around 2 hours from central Bangkok to this place. the good thing is here there is no entrance fee, there is one guan yin, this dragon temple, big Buddha statue and the huge turtle on site. this dragon temple is gorgeous, and you can spot it from far away. we walked 14th floor and finally reached the top. the view was alright, from the top you are able to take a great picture of the Buddha and guan yin statue. there is one noodle shop next door, we grabbed lunch there and kept visiting the places. the turtle was really hidden, which is located next to the pond. overall, the place itself has lots of things to explore, we really enjoyed our visit #passionpassport #staycation #gooutside #temples
