Delft, located in the province of South Holland in the Netherlands, nestled between The Hague and Rotterdam, is a historic and culturally rich city with a population of approximately 105,000. The city is renowned for its network of canals, ancient architecture, Delftware, and the painter Johannes Vermeer. The Old Town is well-preserved, with the central Market Square (Markt) being the heart of the city, flanked by the New Church (Nieuwe Kerk) and the historic Town Hall. The New Church is also an important burial site for members of the Dutch Orange-Nassau royal family. Delft is also a famous producer of blue pottery, its distinctive blue and white ware developed in the 17th century under the influence of Chinese blue and white porcelain. Today, Delft is also home to the prestigious Delft University of Technology. The blend of ancient canals, historical buildings, and a vibrant university atmosphere makes it a small city in the Netherlands well worth visiting.
