There’s a place in Moscow that should not be missed by any tourist visiting the city. It has everything one might expect from an ancient city whose history richened over the years until it reached perhaps its most dramatic period in the mid 20’th century. There are buildings that represent some of the most exotic corners of Russia and its closest neighbors. There are fantastic fairy tale fountains that seem to have sprung directly from Russian folk tales. In summer the park fills with flowers and green forests. In the winter there is one of the world’s largest skating rinks. The park is a national architectural heritage reserve made for creativity and recreation. The name like so many Russian names is an abbreviation. The four letters are familiar to each and every Russian citizen yet so far little known outside of Russia. Its name is VDHN or to a Western ear – Vedenkha.
