北海公园乾隆宴请的“雅间”濠濮间从北海公园的东门进去，向右（就是北方），步行约一里地，就可以看见一座石碑，石碑的上面雕刻着皇帝特有的标记龙的造型，上面镢刻着三个大字：“濠濮间”。

在濠濮间牌楼后面是一潭碧水，水上有一曲折小石桥通往濠濮间。濠濮间坐南朝北，东西长十二米，南北宽六点四米，面积七十七平方米，厅房四周有十六根柱子，内有八根柱子。房前有一副对联，上联“半山晨气林炯冱”，下联“一枕松声涧水鸣”，横批“壶中云石”。

乾隆皇帝是一位文化素养较高的皇帝，他能诗善画，长于书法，并有很高的艺术鉴赏力。他六次南巡，都有如意馆的画工一同前往，把他看中的名园胜景绘成图样，带回北京在皇家园林中仿建。但是移植这些名园胜景，不是机械地照搬，而是根据北方的建筑和花草树木的特点，结合叠山理水，再现江南园林的情调。濠濮间就是仿江南私家园林风格而建造的一处景观。
