Saint Mark's Basilica Review

St. Mark's Cathedral has a history of almost 1000 years. It is one of the richest and most important churches in Catholicism. It has more than 500 stone pillars and more than 4000 square meters of mosaic paintings. On the one hand, it combines the style of Byzantium and Gothic, on the other hand, it also has the Oriental style and is open to Oriental culture. This is the charm of the temple. St. Mark's Church stands on St. Mark's Square in the centre of the city. It commemorates the twelve saints of Jesus and collects trophies. It was built in the 9th century and completed in 1094. Later, the fire broke out and was repaired to the present scale. The treasure house on the right side of the church displays the trophies brought back by the Crusades from Constantinople in 1204. In addition, the mosaic of the Baptist Hall on the right side of the church is also very beautiful. It can be seen from the balcony on the second floor at close range. After entering from the main entrance, the staircase entrance is written on the right side "Loggiadei Cavalli". Following the Byzantine style, the church building is in the shape of a Greek cross, overlying five hemispherical domes. It is a comprehensive masterpiece of art that integrates Byzantine, Gothic, Islamic and Renaissance genres. The front of the church is 51.8 meters long and has five arched Roman gates. At the top are Oriental and Gothic spires and various marble statues, reliefs and flower patterns.
