Huaniao Lighthouse is located at the northwest end of Huaniao Island, standing on the high and steep coast. It was built by the British in the ninth year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty. The tower is cylindrical, 16.5 meters high, covers an area of about 22,000 square meters, and is divided into four floors, the upper part is black and the lower part is white. This black and white cylindrical lighthouse has British elegance and simplicity in appearance, standing silently and peacefully between the sea and the sky. It witnessed the gunpowder of the Anti-British War, and is still an important door light for Chinese and foreign ships to enter Shanghai, Ningbo, Zhoushan and other ports. The lighthouse has complete navigation methods, including light waves, radio waves and sound waves. It is also equipped with aerosol horns that transmit farther in my country, which can provide different navigation methods for ships at different distances. The spotlight on the top of the lighthouse rotates once a minute, and the four beams of light it emits can reach a range of 24 nautical miles, guiding ships in the vast sea.
