It is the site of the barrier station between Gunma Prefecture and Nagano Prefecture. It is not the place where the real barrier station was located, but the gate of the barrier station was relocated to the site of the county office. It is a place that can be walked from Oginoya of "Toge no Kamameshi" of ekiben, so I think it is good to visit as a set.
If you walk from Yokogawa toward Usui Pass on Nakasendo, you will find a gate on the hill on the upper right. The gate of the barrier station was on a hill away from the highway, and I felt uncomfortable, but I was convinced that it was the east gate that was restored using the timber of the time at the site of the bansho. A pillar indicating the position stands at the position where the east gate was actually located. There was also a free museum, but it's a pity that it's only open on Saturdays, April, May, October, November, and public holidays.
It takes less than 5 minutes on foot from Yokogawa Station. If you go to the road of Apt, why not take a little time to visit the ruins of the barrier station. When I went in April, the cherry blossoms at the gateside were wonderful. Along with Hakone and the new house, it is one of the ruins of the third generation of barriers in Japan, but there are no buildings, there are gates, and the pillars and doors are from the Edo period. There was also the intention of a passerby called bow stone holding his hand there and bowing. There is a "Usui Sekisho Material Exhibition Room" near the starting point of the road of Apt, so there ...
There is a site of the barrier station in the place where it was said that it was difficult to cross both the Hakone Pass, which is a difficult point of the Tokaido, and the Usui Pass, which is a difficult point of the Nakasendo. There is no building as long as the east gate has been restored using the members of the time. There are also "Ojigishi" and a small historical museum where travelers have been allowed to pass by by giving out passage bills to officials. It is said that the place was restored to the site of the bansho, not the place where the barrier was at that time. If it is historically meaningful, ...
I visited for the first time in more than 30 years. The volunteers explained it very carefully and in an easy-to-understand manner. I would like to visit again after a little old.
