Red-faced God of War
Tai O is not short of temples. For a small village, it has a lot. This is the oldest one and was built in the Ming dynasty, around 1488. It also happens to be the easiest one to visit because it’s cen...
One of the most interesting temples to visit in Tai O
There are quite a few temples scattered around Tai O. I find the Kwan Tai Temple (Kat Hing Back Street) on to be one of the two most interesting along with the Yeung Hau Temple (north of the village)...
Oldest temple on Lantau Island and popular attraction in Tai O
The Kwan Tai in Tai O is believed to be the oldest temple in Lantau Island. It is also a Grade II historic building in Hong Kong. Originally constructed between 1488-1505, Kwan Tai was restored around...
It is a mausoleum in Tai O, a fishing village on Lantau Island. Tai O had many tourists and the narrow alleys were full of people, but this mausoleum was quiet. It's just a short walk across the bridge of Tai O and turn right at the end. The square in front of the mausoleum was cozy as tourists didn't even look at the mausoleum and proceeded to the alley beyond it. It was a small mausoleum, and when I looked inside, the locals were praying.
A mausoleum in the center of Tai O, a fishing village with an unexplored region. You can feel the history of the pillars and walls being discolored by the smoke of incense sticks. If you go in the morning, you can see the locals praying.
