Oura Catholic Church

It is the oldest church in existence in Japan and the earliest Gothic wooden church in Japan. It is said to have been built by two French priests, Forno and Ferre, to help the 26 saints who preached in the Xiqiao hills, so it faces the Xiqiao hills. The interior of the church is set with French stained glass produced about 100 years ago. Although most of them were unfortunately severely damaged in the atomic bomb explosion, there are also some restored stained glass mixed with it. The sun shines through the glass into the church, not only illuminating the church. The space for prayer has also been expanded. The church is now listed as a national treasure.

Every time I take a cruise to Nagasaki, I always arrange to turn here before I finally get on board. The time is very compact and I can only walk down the ramp. Take a tram to Dapu Heavenly Cathedral and get off, walk for 5 minutes. There are many scenic spots nearby. Four Seas Towers, Nagasaki House and Confucius Temple in Nagasaki are all on the same road. This port city has a long history of trade with China, and is also the only external window for the Tokugawa shogunate during its closure period.
