really pretty small temple
Small temple with 50 wooden statues - each has different facial expression. It was a really neat experience as we were the only ones in the temple - not even one monk.
Peaceful small garden and cemetary to wander around, and an impressive bell. The main attraction though is the many carved wooden statues - so many that it is said you can find one that looks like you...
500 Rakan cannot be seen due to the corona disaster

3 minutes walk from Gohyaku Rakan Station on the Izu Hakone Railway. A temple of the Soto sect built in 1534. The principal image is the eleven-faced Kanzeon Bodhisattva and Shakamuni Buddha. The current main hall was built in 1757. It is a famous temple for the 500 Rakans, which is also the name of the station, but now it is impossible to visit the main hall due to the corona disaster.
This temple is called 500 Rakan and is said to be because it enshrines 500 Rakan and 16 Rakan. It seems to be easy to access, a 3-minute walk from Gohyaku Rakan Station. There was also a large parking lot.
I took the Izu Hakone Railway Daiyuzan Line from Odawara and went there. It is located 2-3 minutes walk from Gohyaku Rakan Station. The name of the temple is Tamahoji Temple. There are 500 Rakans where you enter from the front and walk straight. There are 526 bodies, so if you look closely, it is said that the oneness is similar to you. Since there was no one in the precincts, I was able to take a leisurely tour, but I was disappointed that I couldn't listen to the people at the temple.
