Chishan Fahua Temple

Chishan Fahuayuan is located in the Chishan Scenic Area of Shidao, Weihai City, Shandong Province, with a construction area of 5,000 square meters. It was built in the Tang Dynasty and was built by Tang Dynasty filter guards. The Japanese monk Yuanren Master came here three times to seek the law and successfully built the Chishan Zen Temple in Ono Mountain, Kyoto, Japan. The Fahuayuan is a Buddhist monastery where people of China, Japan and South Korea have a friendship exchange. Every year, a large number of Korean and Japanese tourists come to this pilgrimage.

Chishan Fahuayuan was built by Zhang Baojun of the Silla people of Tang Dynasty (now South Korea). Tang Xianzong was recruited into Tang in two years (807), and was promoted to Wuning (now Xuzhou) Junior and Minor General of the army due to his superior martial arts and bravery. There were many Sillas in some villages in Shidaowan at the time, and almost everyone believed in Buddhism. In order to allow people in their hometown to have spiritual support, and to do good deeds for "Guangzong Yaozu", Zhang Baojun asked Tang Muzong for the consent of the Tang government in 823 to establish a Zen monastery in Chishanpu (now Shidaowan).
