The Qianling Temple Grottoes, one of China's four largest grottoes, are located on the cliffs on the north bank of the Yellow River in Yongjing County. The grottoes were built in Xijin. The largest grotto is a natural cave. In addition to several Buddhas, the most striking inside is the natural Buddha built in the Tang Dynasty.
The world cultural heritage scenic spot of Qianling Temple is the core of Qianling Temple Grottoes, and the core of the Grottoes is the Big Buddha of Qianling Temple. The Big Buddha is the largest cave in the Grottoes. It is magnificent and the statue belongs to the early Grottoes style. It is beautiful and not like the Hanization image of the middle and late Tang Dynasty. In addition, there is a sleeping Buddha on the other side, which is a statue wrapped in layers of different dynasties, which is very special.
Especially spectacular, worth a visit
Easy to use, convenient
Qianling Temple Grottoes One of the six largest grottoes in China, and is known as the encyclopedia of Chinese grottoes. The ancient people of Western Qin opened in 1600 in front of them. There were many sculptures in the grottoes, and the largest was the reclining Buddha. We visited the Liujiaxia Hydropower Station and took a speedboat for more than an hour. We came to Qianling Temple. The landscape here is very thick and thick, peak danger stone. Qianlingsi Grottoes, located on the cliff wall on the west side of Dasigou in Jishishan, about 40 kilometers southwest of Yongjing County, Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province, the early years of Xijin (about the 3rd century AD) were carved on the cliffs of Dasigou on the north bank of the Yellow River, officially established in the first year of Western Qin Jianye (420). Up and down four floors. The earliest known as Tang Shu Grottoes is the meaning of slang "ghost caves". The Tang Dynasty called Longxing Temple, the Song Dynasty called Lingyan Temple, and the Ming Dynasty Yongle years later called Qianling Temple. The "Qianling" is the simplified expression of Tibetan "Xianba Qianling". It is the meaning of "thousand Buddhas" and "100000 Maitreya Buddhas". There are 183 caves, a total of 694 stone sculptures, 82 mud sculptures, about 900 square meters of murals, distributed in the west bank of Dasigou about 200 meters long, 60 meters high cliff surface. The caves are composed of the Tang Dynasty "natural Buddha" (169 caves) located at the height of the cliff and many small and medium-sized caves in the middle section of the cliff face. The artistic value of the temple is second only to the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang. The shape of the Buddha statues is summarized, the technique is simple, the dress is flying, the attitude is elegant, the quiet and the proportion is coordinated, and the charm of the northwest is fully reflected. The 169th cave, it is the largest, earliest and most content cave in the Qianling Temple, is the essence of the Qianling Temple Grottoes. Since the natural conditions here are relatively good and there is little human damage, the Qianling Temple Grottoes are still relatively complete. The geological structure of the Jishishan mountain rock where the Qiling Temple is located is fine yellow sandstone, which is easy to be carved and carved, but is not resistant to weathering tide. Due to the dry climate and the high cliffs, the rock formations often protruding like eaves, which play a role in sheltering the wind and rain and sun exposure to some caves, so many caves have been preserved quite completely for thousands of years. We marveled and reveled in the beauty of this strange mountain.
