While we all love to travel - that's why we're here, right? - many of us have a very special consideration: our animal companion at home. While family holidays with the kids are easy (in theory), and the child-free have no such concerns, those with pets can be at a loss. How do we holiday with pets?

But no longer do you need to rely on a friend, relative or helpful neighbour to walk Fluffy. Here we have compiled 10 of the best hotels across 10 separate countries that you can bring your favourite non-human friend. Check out these pet-friendly hotels and then get ready to book your flight

A hotel, right in the centre of one of the most beautiful cities in Spain, Europe, and the world, that is not only beautiful but also sustainable and pet-friendly? We think that the Hotel Casa Bonay should be up for your consideration regardless of whether you intend to bring your pet or not.

Boasting a wonderful interior and 2 culinary delights in Satan’s Coffee Corner café and Bodega Bonay's restaurant, you'll be delighted with your choice to come here. The Sagrada Familia is a mere 12-minute walk away, as is the very dog-friendly Ciutadella Park. Oh, and the hotel will take care of doggo, too, with amenities for your pet included. Que fantástica!

We love Amsterdam - the canals, the bikes, the museums, indeed the whole atmosphere makes it one of the best cities to visit in Europe. And should you want to bring your dog, then there are plenty of green spaces and parks to throw a stick in.

And bringing your drooly companion - or indeed the feline friend - doesn't mean you need to shirk on luxury. The 5-star Pulitzer offers exquisite rooms on the stunning Keizersgracht will house either Fido or Fluffy for 50 euros per pet, per day. One note is that this applies to small pets (below 55cm or 1.8 ft), so sadly the Great Dane might still have to stay at home…

Manchester is one of the most vibrant of the UK cities, with a thriving social scene and a reputation for a good time. And, as a nation of pet-lovers, you'll find plenty to do with the non-human companion in the north of England.

Should you want to come to the city of museums, shopping, and of course football, you should absolutely feel comfortable to do so. The Whitworth Locke, part of the excellent Locke Living group, will offer you wonderful 4-star accommodation for you and your pup - up to 20kg of them - in exchange for a one-off cleaning fee.

Fun little fact: over 50% of Frankfurt's city limits are protected green areas, with parks and forests prevalent throughout Germany's financial hub. Which means, if you want a getaway that includes your beloved animal, you'll have plenty of places to wander to.

But where to rest your weary heads? May we point you in the direction of The Flag West M., surrounded by parks for the pet, and plenty of museums and other places of interest for you. Simply let the serviced apartments know you're bringing them, and they'll help you out - then experience all the culture that Frankfurt has to offer.

Pet friendly hotels

'Welcome to your 5-star second home', is the mantra of the Maison Albar Hotels le Vendome - and with the ability to bring your (small) pet, free of charge, we believe it to be very true. Being a 15-minute walk from the leafy grounds of the Louvre also helps.

While you introduce the four-legged (we assume) friend to the room, be sure to drink in the luxury - and when you get the chance, let the pet have a nap and head down the relaxation area with the spa, indoor swimming pool and fitness centre.

A Mediterranean climate and one of the very cradles of civilization - with your beloved pet in tow? That sounds like a deal to us. And with some of the best views of one of the world's most stunning cities, we believe Coco-mat Athens BC is the perfect place to bring the fluffy friend.

A 5-star beauty, this hotel lies a stone's throw from the Acropolis and the grounds of the Prison of Socrates - meaning your pet has plenty to explore with you nearby. Your Greek adventure awaits, and you don't even have to find a pet-sitter…

One of the true jewels in Europe's crown, Hungary's capital boasts a long, fascinating history - and not to mention some splendid architecture, and green spaces abound with which to exercise your good boy/girl. In the heart of the city centre is the Hotel Museum Budapest, a wonderful place for human and pet alike.

If poochie is the active type, take them over the Erzsébet híd (Elisabeth Bridge) for a frolic in the Garden of Philosophers, knowing that you can return to your 4-star hotel and enjoy all of its fabulous amenities. A fee is all you need, regardless of your pet's size!

Got a pet and fancy a trip to Rome? Of course you do. And you should do so in 5-star luxury - we're pretty sure you deserve it. If your dog or cat weighs below 25kg (and let's hope your cat does indeed weigh less than that), for 35 euros you can stay in a truly spectacular pet-friendly hotel in the Italian capital.

The Santa Maria Maggiore - a Roman must-visit - is a 10-minute walk away, while the 177 rooms either face the piazza and or towards the Via Marsala and Sacro Cuore di Gesù church. Sounds like you and the pet are in for a bella vacanza, we would argue…

Pet Friendly hotels

If your beloved companion is a warm-weather fan, then we can highly recommend letting he or she stay at the pet-lover haven that is Zabeel House by Jumeirah, The Greens. This 4-star, highly regarded property will host you and your non-human buddy. The hotel is a stone's throw from the world-famous Palm Jumeirah if you fancy going for a swim with your dog.

Boasting all the excellent amenities you'd expect of a hotel in Dubai, we're pretty certain you'll be delighted to visit. Their in-house pan-Asian restaurant Lah - highly regarded by visitors - will let you bring your doggo, too…
