The main airlines flying this route include China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines and Air China. These carriers typically offer stopovers in their respective hubs: Beijing, Shanghai, or sometimes Guangzhou (we’ll tell you more about that just below).
Connecting flights: fares and duration
Generally speaking, the total journey time is between 13 and 19 hours, depending on the length of your connection. Flights with a short 2 to 3-hour stopover in Beijing or Shanghai remain the fastest options.
As for the cost, you can expect to pay around £549 return in April, though prices can soar during the peak winter month of March when the ice festival is in full swing.

The staff's professionalism was excellent, especially Ms. Xiao Bi at the executive lounge, who was kind and friendly, particularly to us seniors. The hotel's breakfast had a wide variety of delicious options, and the staff's service attitude was superb! The overall service was truly awful, and I absolutely do not recommend it. The experience was terrible. All the female receptionists were great, but the two male receptionists provided extremely poor service. One slightly overweight man acted as if he hadn't woken up yet, speaking to me in a questioning tone from the moment I arrived until I got my room card, as if I owed him money. I asked for an extra room card for power, which I believe is a basic service. I don't accept that they can't even provide such a fundamental service. I paid to stay in a hotel, not to be looked down upon. The other thin man's tone was full of impatience. He just told me there were no rooms available and to wait, saying at least an hour. He couldn't help with anything I asked. I had already booked and confirmed my room, yet he just blurted out that there were no rooms and to wait. This kind of service is worse than a motel. I don't believe this is a 5-diamond hotel.
The only exception was a front desk lady named #Anning. From my booking to check-in, she communicated with me very thoughtfully throughout. She even arranged my room matters on her day off. The next day, she even gave me a souvenir. I believe hotel staff should make guests feel comfortable and at home. Also, there was an usher, a big brother named #XiaoGuo, who patiently helped me with my luggage, moving it back and forth between rooms. During this time, he kept recommending local specialties and places to visit. He was very enthusiastic and kind. If it weren't for the patient and thoughtful service of these two staff members, I honestly wouldn't have accepted the hotel's price and environment.
Regarding the receptionist I circled in the picture: last night, around 8 PM, I returned to the hotel after dinner and asked him for an extra power card. I think this is a basic service, and my request was perfectly reasonable. He immediately questioned me, ”Didn't I give you one when you checked in? Didn't I give you two at check-in?” I then had to explain that the housekeeping staff must have taken it after cleaning the room. Only then, reluctantly and with a scowl, did he process one for me.
On my first day of check-in, I said I had a reservation and it was prepared. He didn't even bother to check and just told me there were no rooms and to wait an hour. Later, a thin male receptionist next to him told him that I had booked through Ctrip, probably worried I would leave a bad review. Only then did he reluctantly go and check if there was a room for me. Less than two minutes later, he told me there was a room available again. I really suggest the hotel improve its management. Housed in a historic building dating back to 1903, the Grand Mansion's rooms are on the smaller side and the facilities are a bit dated, but it wins on its authentic charm. The location is prime; turn right out of the hotel and Central Square is just 50 meters away – you can't get any closer. The only downside is that taxis can't drop you off directly at the hotel entrance because it gets too congested during holidays, and drivers worry about getting stuck.
**Service:** The staff are warm and attentive.

Our stay at this new hotel was fantastic! The room was super spacious, perfect for two adults and a child. They even set up a sofa bed for us, so everyone had their own bed. Our room on the 15th floor offered amazing views from the large window, and the soundproofing was excellent, ensuring a quiet night's sleep.
