A traditional and historical hotel with a perfect location in York. The room is nice and the bed is comfortable. Though it is an old hotel, it is not outdated at all and makes you feel good. The location is prime and there are lots of restaurants nearby and it only take a few minutes to walk to different attractions in York. The only downside is that there is a staircase in front and it will take you some energy if you bring along a large luggage.

The hotel is right in front of the cathedral, the location is very central, and Diagon Alley is also within walking distance, which is not convenient for parking. 7.8 minutes after walking the street one night behind the parking lot is okay, parking during the day is very expensive. Welcome to us is a very old-fashioned British gentleman, introduced the room for 10 minutes, and encountered the butler-style service for the first time.

Good location (turning corner is the cathedral) but it is a hotel attached to the restaurant, so I waited for a long time when I checked in. No one at the counter rang. No one waited for more than 10 minutes. Others were waiting. There was no elevator. I helped to get it up (4th floor) Check out and wait for no one to hang down by themselves. It took a long time for someone to check out. Living in the attic is a bit cold. The quilt is not warm enough. The spare parts are good.

Thank you.The property is a 4 bedroom townhouse, with a courtyard garden; it can accommodate up to 6 guests. The rental comprises of the entire house, thereby offering privacy and space, and is arguably the best located holiday property in York. A comprehensive refurbishment of the entire house has just been completed, and care was taken to retain the original features, many of which date back nearly 300 years. Safety: The safety of all our guests is of paramount importance to us and whilst we ensure that the house is a safe as is reasonably possible, it is not 'toddler-proof', and we caution parents against bringing very young children (below the age of 4) who would need constant supervision on the stairs and in the kitchen. The Elderly: There are 2 sets of winding wooden stairs to reach the upper floors which might prove difficult for the elderly and infirm (and hazardous for the very young).Parking: For those guests arriving by car there is a free car-parking space for one vehicle, 5 minutes walk from the house. Additional spaces are available in the York City Council car parks which are also close by. Further information on parking and directions will be given in our 'Welcome Package'. I had a pleasant stay at this hotel during my visit to York. The room was clean and stylish, offering a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. One of the biggest advantages was the hotel’s convenient location. York is a compact city, and from the hotel, it was easy to walk to the city centre. This made it incredibly convenient to return to the hotel for a short rest before heading out again. The complimentary coffee and croissants provided were not only delicious but also very convenient, especially for a quick breakfast or snack. Additionally, the staff at the front desk were exceptionally friendly and responsive, promptly addressing any questions or requests I had. That said, there were a couple of minor inconveniences. The laundry facilities seemed poorly maintained, which might be an issue for longer stays, though it wasn’t a significant problem for my two-night visit. Another issue was that all the power in the room was controlled by the keycard, and alternative cards couldn’t be used. This meant that every time I left the room, all power, including charging devices or heating, was turned off. It was a bit inconvenient, especially during colder weather. Overall, despite these minor drawbacks, I enjoyed my stay and would recommend this hotel for its excellent location, clean rooms, and helpful staff.

Online check in wasn't working new system issues but that was ok. Very friendly staff. 24hr reception,menu etc. breakfast prices need updating as they are £8 not £6. Light help yourself breakfast pastries toast, cereal and coffee. Nice spacious dining hall. Plenty of communal areas to sit and relax and the bar is a great place to meet and chat to people. The stairs were a challenge after a long day for me but rooms comfy. Curtains around beds give you good privacy. Trinity church over the road has lots of history and worth a visit. Regency Chinese is a great place to eat a short walk away. Close to the walls,station,city,bridges etc.. great for sight seeing. In a quiet part of the city. Loved my stay. Would stay here again. Great value.

It's really great! I knew before booking that the hotel was run by a Chinese owner, but after arriving, I was able to communicate with my mother tongue about the journey. This feeling is really wonderful. The owner is still an alumnus! We arrived earlier than the check-in time and wanted to put down our luggage first, but the room was already cleaned, so we were arranged to check in early! Then the owner was very patient to draw a map and recommend tourist spots and restaurants. After checking in, I found that although this hotel is not a traditional luxury hotel, I can feel the intention of the operator. For example, the noise reduction and sound insulation of the entire hotel are very good, just like the iron frame stairs at the back door, which is very considerately covered with plastic mats to greatly reduce the noise of the iron stairs. There is basically no creaking sound of the traditional British house floor when walking in the room, so there is no need to worry about affecting the guests downstairs. I especially recommend everyone to book breakfast! See the photos for details! It's really very rich! In addition, it is also very convenient to travel! There is a small path from the train station parking lot that can pass through the hotel. It takes 5-6 minutes to walk quickly without luggage. It takes about 8-10 minutes to drag large luggage. There is a bus stop in front of the hotel that takes you directly to the cathedral. I hope I can return to York and stay here again if I have the chance.

The location is good and a walking distance to key places of interest. The room were clean and services were good. However, there is need to improve where dinner is served as it is just like in the reception area with chairs and tables not meant for dinner. The first day looked like there was less preparation for guests as other guests together with us were frustrated after making orders only to wait too long to be told that the choice was not available. Otherwise the staff are sociable and ready to help and serve.

Check in after 3 pm, the front desk did not even have a personal shadow, to call the landlord, and later other guests who lived in it opened the door for us. The bathroom bathing table is not a mixing valve, the hot and cold faucet is separated, the distance is far, the water in winter, while cold, while burning, heating is supplied in time, not all day. Breakfast is hard to say, I want to change the bacon (salty and dry, unpalatable to death) to a sausage, the answer is NO, every table seems to be in the mood to order, there is no toast on the menu, the table next door, our table is not on, I asked the next table is ordered separately, they said no, anyway, it is on. The deposit in the room was deducted directly without telling it. I thought the card was stolen and the credit card was frozen urgently. In short, it was a very bad experience. Not easy to bad reviews, but the experience is really bad.

We choose a garden view room which was a bit small but the view was amazing, all the way to the minster. Breakfast can get a bit busy as the area is small but it was nice.
