The room was set up exactly as we requested, yea and coffee was readily available as requested and the goodies were delivered right on time! The high end organisation made our away day the best day. Tiny room with no opening window. Lack of fire signs in corridor, so it would be very risky if there was smoke. I don't like the bathroom arrangements as no privacy and just a screen. It is really poor design. The room was very hot in the night. It was ok for one night but I would not repeat my visit. Staff are nice and the vending machine is handy.

Awful location right in centre of Reading where there is absolutely NO PARKING anywhere near the hotel. You cannot even stop just outside to set passengers down or drop luggage as it is entirely surrounded by double RED lines - no stopping at any time. You have to park in a long stay car park at the Railway Station, which is a good 7 or 8 minutes walk away, and carry your luggage to the hotel yourself. Lad who checked us in was so helpful. He not only found me some additional pillows and brought them to the room very quickly, but he also booked a cab for us to our restaurant at the Oracle. On the other hand, the girl on duty this morning obviously could not give a toss when I reported that our air conditioning did not work and our toilet did not flush. As it was the hottest day on record yesterday, we had to try to sleep with a tiny window open to get any air, which of course (in a city centre) was noisy. As for the toilet, the very least I demand of any hotel room is that I get a functioning toilet. I had to take the plastic inner from the waste bin in the bathroom and fill it with water in the sink and then tip it into the toilet to get rid of our waste. Not pleasant. And this was in the £340 a night Rocket suite! Girl on duty's response - ”I will tell maintenance”. Not even a ”sorry to hear that” let alone any offer of compensation by reducing the bill. Awful. Will never stay here again.

Incredibly disappointed with my stay. Room was hot and smelt very strongly of Indian takeaway on arrival. Bedding had blood on it. Bedhead in poor repair. Bathroom door did not close. Outer window was impossible to close due to the position of the television set and the inner window frame. Shower clearly cleaned but smelt very musty. Room 205 is next door to the linen room. Staff used this room loudly after midnight at 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. talking, banging the door repeatedly, and shaking sheets out. This woke me up multiple times, and I did not sleep well. There were no hairdryers available, I had to go out and buy one. The lift did not work. My card to enter the building stopped working during my stay and needed changing, which was another inconvenience. None of this is the fault of the staff who were very pleasant. Perfect location with cafes and shops nearby, just a shame that the place isn't well maintained. There's bog standard and then there's this.

The good part: Staff are very friendly although check-in seems to take a little longer than Premier Inn, the reception area and seating to relax looks fantastic and the pizzas that the staff make 24/7 are absolutely delicious. The drink & pizza prices are reasonable. Location wise is spot on, just a two minute walk from the train station and central to everything. They provide more variety of tea & coffee in rooms, such as fruit & herbal teas, and decaff coffee, this totally beats any other budget hotel. Bad points: This is a cashless hotel & this is something i'm firmly against for a variety of reasons they lost £200 in sales due to this from myself & friends. The pillows are rock hard and kept waking up with a sore neck, the beds are also uncomfortable and feels like your sleeping on the floor. The noise from housekeeping is absolutely atrocious all you hear from several floors above and below, are the staff dragging large heavy trollies around and this goes on from 11am to 4pm if you need to sleep during the day forget it. The toilets smell of sewage & urine so sometimes you return back to your room and it stinks. There is also construction work ongoing Monday-Friday until Nov 2022 yet the prices are still very high. The cooling systems seem to work fine for an hour or so but then quickly the room becomes stuffy and warm, due to the location having the window open is very noisy especially at weekends.

This is a beautiful quaint pub run by the fullers brewer.Quintessentially English it was a posting in many years ago on the route from London to Bath and beyond. The stables are now the kitchen and it is the kitchen I would like to highlight.Firstly is has a chef not a cook and the food is beautiful….however…and there is always a however, the portions are very small…..for example the octopus starter is one 6 inch tentacle……I saw it delivered to the table and the man’s face was absolute shock…..”£10 for that.I could buy a giant 🐙 octopus for the same price” he exclaimed.Woofed it down in 30secomds😂😂It’s a shame because the food is vey good. Open fire, good selection of ales and largest, fantastic staff, especially Ray behind the bar. Please Git this place it’s lovely……but don’t come here if your hungry😂😂

We used this hotel as a base to go horse racing in Newbury. Our initial room did'nt have a bath, but the very helpful young man on reception moved us without fuss in no time. When settled we went for a drink in the bar.We had booked dinner for both days and were very happy with both the food and the service( Ramana and Steffan were excellent). Breakfast was also good with plenty of variety and re-stocked regularly. Well done to all concerned,we will return. As a side note, a taxi to the racecourse is between £12 and £15 each way and takes about 15 mins.

Really helpful staff. Let us securely leave travel case before check-in time. Contacted us early (1PM) to let us have our apartment before the 3PM check-in. Apartment really is home from home! Fully kitted out kitchen. Modern furnishing, decoration and really clean. The apartments really our sound proofed and internally very quiet. Quiet complex and lift or stairs to aid access to apartments. Nice, warm and secure. Reception is hosted and even late at night you have an access code. The lovely lady on reception even said can call her if we could not gain entry! Perfect location - 2 minute walk to Oracle (shops) bars and restaurants. Even Sainsbury's is close so you can cook a meal in the kitchen. We guess the only thing to be aware is the complex is in a vibrant area and externally until 0200/0300 it is noisy so an earlyish night is not easy but this aside, well worth a stay.

Didn’t expect much from this hotel for the price but we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms are very basic but were clean enough and had everything there we needed for a short stay. Everything is on your doorstep and the pub in the hotel is a great place to start your night off. The staff were all really friendly and very helpful and there was a good atmosphere, we seen a few meals being served and they all loooked nice. The breakfast was outstanding, we had the full English and didn’t have one complaint, there was plenty on the plate and the bacon especially was fantastic. I honestly feel we got more value for our money, If you want to live in luxury then this isn’t the place for you but if you want somewhere cheap and cheerful then we would 100% recommend.

I stayed at the Market House for one night to recover after a long flight. My room (room 1 on the first floor) delighted me. I loved the bright, quirky decoration, excellent, spotless bathroom, comfortable mattress and the superior tea/coffee selection. So much thought had gone into decorating and equipping the room. The heating (on a cold, cold day) was brilliant. I slept so well (note it was midweek and there was no noise from the bar below or on the street outside). Checking-in, however, could have been better -- I needed to make a phone call from the street outside -- and the staff member with whom I dealt appeared disappointingly subdued about Reading and about the hotel itself.

Perfect for me as it’s right across from the office but probably not so great if you wanted to be in the city centre although it’s only an £8 taxi ride or £2 bus ride. Opposite a Beefeater which was handy but I would prefer an on-site bar and restaurant. Felt a bit uncomfortable on check-in to be asked if I was a smoker (I’m not) and if anyone would be joining me later 😳. Didn’t like the bed being made up with sheets, blanket and counter pane as it’s quite uncomfortable particularly on one of the hottest days of the year although the mobile air conditioning unit helped (first time I’ve had sheets and blankets for over 30 years since the day I got married despite extensive business (weekly) and leisure travel (4-6 times a year)). Hotel was very clean and the bathroom was well equipped. A bottle of water would have been a welcome addition to the room particularly in such hot weather. Not sure who to recommend the hotel to as it’s neither a corporate hotel with all the amenities or a home from home. Breakfast was on offer for an additional £15 and I decided to wait until I checked in to see. As I wanted to be in the office for 8am and there was no menu available, times of service or visibility of a dining room, other facilities or even other guests, I decided it may be too intimate and opted for a cold sandwich I had stored in the office fridge ‘just in case’. Was similarly priced to the executive room I had in the Novotel last week which had a full buffet breakfast included.

Very good British basic three-star rooms below have no slippers. This is a four-star location, but there is no toothbrush and toothpaste. You need to bring your own. There is a computer in the lobby. Breakfast can be printed for free. If you want to eat Chinese food and breakfast, you need to charge another five. You can cross the road to the subway station, but the British subway law and order is very poor. There are a lot of subway thieves. Please don't bring too much cash. You can use the visa card to swipe the card anywhere. Don't worry about carrying a 100 pounds. enough

Overall this is a really nice hotel, but what would make it really great is a little more staff training. The staff are all really lovely, but they lack a bit of common sense and management. The hotel appears to be aiming for a high end of the market, so we were surprised by the poor training of some of the staff. The chap behind the bar on the two evenings we were there was really nice, but oh my goodness he was so slow. Each time we ordered a drink we had to tell him two or three times what we wanted. They didn't have the wine I wanted, but instead of handing me a list of their wines or telling me what wines they have, he just looked blankly at me and waited for me to ask if he had a certain wine. When he had poured the drinks he never told us how much they were, he just got the card machine out (they don't take cash) and we paid. We had to ask for the card machine receipt, but never gave us a till receipt so we still have no idea how much each individual drink cost. By the way the drinks are really expensive. The first night we had a pint of larger and a large white wine which came to £15.30p and the next night two large glasses of wine (one red, one white) which came to £23.50p. At no time during our stay were we offered a till receipt. We were shocked by the half pint and pint glasses given to customers (even ladies) which were the old fashioned ones with handles, which we hadn't seen for many years. Some ladies were struggling to drink from them. I really think the hotel should reconsider this and at least offer ladies a tall glass. The same chap was on his own behind the bar for both nights, but at no point did any other member of staff come to help him, especially when quite a bit queue had formed (because he was so slow), even though there were plenty of staff in the area. The waiting staff were friendly and polite, but again lacked a bit of guidance and training. One of the young waiters was wiping a table while the plates etc were still on the table. We wanted a table that people had just left and he kindly said he would clear the table for us and re-set it. He did re-set it, but didn't wipe it over and left the jug of water from the previous people. It is a large hotel and there were two coach trips booked in as well as quite a few other guests, so it was quite busy on both evenings. Having said this the hotel rooms were lovely and we enjoyed our stay. Our room was on the first floor which was nice and quiet. Rooms were extremely clean and tidy and well maintained. We were on a coach trip, so not in the hotel much of the time during the day. A few tweaks and this could be a really top notch hotel. Top tip: if the bar prices put you off, pop round to the local shop (turn left out of the main entrance of the hotel, turn right at the end of the road and there are a couple of shops up there and a cafe). You can buy drink there to put in the fridge in your room. Also, ice machine on the first floor by the lifts

We opted for the full English breakfast, which was supplemental to the room charge, but was well cooked and tasty, and gave a good start to the day. Just come back today from staying in the studio flat. I would easily stay here again. It was an easy check in. You get emailed with a request of ID requirements they need and once you’ve confirmed this they then send you a link to pay for the stay at the apartment and a deposit which is refundable depending on any damages etc. Clean linen supplied, with also cutlery, plates, mugs, pans and pots etc. Was a lovely spacious clean place to stay. It honestly felt like a home from home. For a couple who just wanted some ‘us’ time without work etc constantly getting in the way. It was relaxing and for a women I felt safe and secure in and around the building when I wasn’t with my partner. Michela from guest services was polite and friendly with a ‘can do attitude’ and helped with queries I had and made me feel at ease. Thank you Michela. Your central to everything and everything was in a nice walking distance. I can’t wait to book again and this time dependent on work I hope it’s longer than two nights! See you soon!!

Katy and all her Colleagues work very hard to make your stay comfortable and pleasant, nothing is too much trouble. We stay in rooms with kitchenettes as I can make easy meals for when my husband comes back from work ,which is only 10 minutes drive the main reason we stay here. All the rooms have kettles fridges microwave and crockery,YOU DO NOT FIND THIS IN ANY OTHER HOTEL!! It makes our long stays much more affordable, and there is also free parking in the very large car park. The hotel is spread over 3 buildings ,so plenty of choice in different rooms and prices. Always clean linen, fluffy towels etc, some beds are different to others, so before writing negative reviews maybe ring and give your preference of what you expect and Katy and her team will do there very best to accommodate you. The bus stop is right outside the hotel on both sides of the street and it takes about 20 to 25 minutes to walk to town buses stop in various places and also right outside the train station, extremely convenient if you are traveling on with luggage. There are fans and heating in all rooms and irons and ironing boards in some rooms, if you need one it will be brought to your room. There is a launderette round the corner and many eating places around the hotel, at which some you can get a discount with you room key card, And lastly how many hotels allow you to eat your own food In there dining room!! Not many I think!!. The breakfasts always looks and smells delicious and they also have a small menu at night for guests who don't want to eat out or have takeaway. All in all, remember this is a budget hotel with many good extras ,and the best extra is the fantastic service and friendliness you recieve from everyone that works here including the hard working Housekeeping ladies and gents, always have a smile and a nice Hello in a morning when I see them starting there shifts, and I do enjoy my Chats with Katy and others on reception when they manage to have a minute or two spare,. Many thanks from Carolyn and Graham

We reserved a 5-day period, including Christmas, because we were looking for a comfortable and quiet place. They first placed us in the 6th tower in the apartment 6B, but it was extremely noisy. The apartment is wide, was well clean and the team seems to be well professional, there is also a safety that is staying in the parking, but this detail with the floor and acoustics left unwanted. They moved us upstairs, 6C, to try to threaten the noise problem, but when other guests entered 6B, it was possible to hear TV, conversation, floor, everything! So if you are someone who needs quiet and a little silence to work, find another place. P-S: TV is not smart and almost no channel options, the washing machine wasn't working. I think that for £100 a day, they could improve these aspects!

Choose the hotel basically as it looked good on the photos and it was nice when I got there, location wise its not the best, it basically feels like you're on an industrial estate. Rooms and air-con all nice in the few weeks i stayed, restaurant food was OK did expect better and the menu choice was limited. But sleeping well is the most important thing for me and I didn't hear anything from other guests whilst there, which for a light sleeper is great and probably the best I'd slept away from home in a good while. If there is a soccerball game on then they seem to shut the restaurant early unless that was just a one off and expect plenty of fans to be in and around the hotel. Whacked the prices up so doubt I will stay again, moved to the Donnington Valley hotel near Newbury which is very nice

A well kept and centrally located building for services apartments in the center of Reading. Clean, very well equipped apartments. We had a hickup with extending our reservation, but that was solved by a very professional Guest Services Manager Craig Priest (did leave us outside for a Saturday night though). Highly recommended.
