Meimei___01A Charming Old Town Homestay in Luoyang: Beautiful but with a Few Quirks!
This is a beautifully renovated homestay nestled right inside Luoyang's ancient old town. If you are looking for a place with local character, this is a wonderful choice, though there are a few practical things you should know before booking.
The Cons (Things to consider):
The Location/Access: Because it is located deep within a narrow alley of the old town, large cars and taxis cannot pick you up or drop you off right at the doorstep. You will need to roll your luggage for about 400 meters to the main road. 🧳
The Breakfast: They serve a very traditional Chinese breakfast consisting of millet porridge, fried dough sticks (youtiao), and vegetable steamed buns. While it tasted good, it was a bit salty, and the menu was exactly the same every single day without any variation.
The Pros (Why I still loved it):
The Room & Vibe: Our triple room was incredibly spacious, spotlessly clean, and the entire courtyard was beautifully decorated with a lot of taste and local charm.
The Hospitality: The owner and the staff were absolutely amazing—super enthusiastic, warm, and helpful throughout our stay! ❤️
The Prime Location: Being situated inside the old town means it is exceptionally convenient. You can easily walk to all the major historical sights and the vibrant Drum Tower (Gulou) Night Market for amazing street food. 🏮🍢
Overall, despite the minor inconveniences with luggage and the repetitive breakfast, the massive rooms, lovely aesthetic, and unbeatable location make it a fantastic base for exploring Luoyang!

This place was surprisingly comfortable and a great stay! First, let me share about the thoughtful touches in the bathroom: they provide hair clips, small hair ties, cotton swabs, band-aids, and disposable paper cups. The most thoughtful part is that they replenish sanitary pads daily – such a warm gesture. Next, the morning music alarm was so uplifting; I'd find myself dancing while getting ready. The playlist is fresh, trendy, and enjoyable. Now, about the room environment: the cleaning staff would come in promptly every day to clean and would always ask if anyone was sleeping, trying their best not to disturb guests. I observed that they definitely change everything out after each guest, and it was always very clean and timely. I also want to share that each room is equipped with fire safety equipment, including emergency lighting and breathing apparatus – something many hotels don't offer. Their fire safety awareness is excellent! Finally, for leisure and entertainment, they have a separate vanity room, a library, a fitness area, a pool table, a mahjong machine, and a lounge and dining area. What I loved most was the cinema room. During my stay, I'd order takeout every evening and relax in the lobby, watching movies while eating. It was incredibly relaxing. I also want to mention the customer service staff – they would check in daily to ask about my stay and were always very helpful in resolving any issues. Very good! Their management is also very organized! When to clean, when to play music, the cleaning procedures – everything is very clear, and the check-in briefing was very detailed. Anyway, you'll know once you stay there! I highly recommend it and hope they open branches in other cities too.

I've been staying at Mo Wen Youth Hostel for almost a week now. Initially, I only planned to visit the White Horse Temple for two days and then leave. But that didn't happen, all thanks to 'Lao Tou' (the old man).
When I first arrived, I asked him why he set up the hostel in a building materials market. He told me it was 'to have more fun without disturbing others' and that his hostel isn't a 'commercial hostel.' He also mentioned he has a lot of returning guests, which really piqued my curiosity. Spending one evening with him completely won me over. Lao Tou drinks every night and is incredibly knowledgeable, especially about history. He can also recommend many great places to eat. He's a lot of fun, especially when playing 'German Heart Attack' – he's a pro! I genuinely would come back to Luoyang just for Mo Wen again. It's really that good!

Guest UserThe hotel is surrounded by lush greenery, making it a perfect spot for a relaxing, oxygen-rich getaway. The balcony in the room offers a great view of the hotel's rockery.
The service was excellent, especially from the lobby manager (the lady in the yellow shirt).
The changing rooms by the pool are very nice, with individual shower stalls equipped with toiletries. The pool itself is spacious and uses an external circulation system. My only minor complaint is that the bottom of the pool was a bit slippery, suggesting it might not be cleaned with a robot very often.

JiejietaoTAOFirst, a disclaimer about this review: the service being referred to is primarily the complimentary 'travel photography service' offered by the hotel. When I booked, I didn't see any mention of a fee for this service, and the actual charge ended up being different from what was implied. Please be cautious! The male staff at the front desk were great, and all the other services were excellent. However, there was a female staff member at the front desk in the morning who was so sound asleep I couldn't wake her up. The room itself was really good, and I was even allowed to check in early and received an upgrade, which I truly appreciate. But this travel photography really upset me. I honestly can't give a good rating (which would have gotten me a free photo from the shoot), and I don't want to go against my conscience. If you're considering booking the travel photography service, please think twice!

The B&B is in hotel style, very satisfactory, and the location is very good, very close to Yingtianmen! Makeup is so convenient! The room is also very clean, breaking the impression of B&B haha
There is no elevator, but I see that there are old houses around that have been converted into B&Bs, and none of them have elevators, so I can accept that there is no elevator, after all, it is very close to the scenic spot
You can tell from the details of the homestay that the owner has carefully arranged it. The service is also very good. When we checked out, he saw us taking our luggage downstairs and ran up to help us get it. Mineral water is free of charge. The disposables are also of high quality. The mattress is very comfortable. I am very satisfied overall and highly recommended.

Guest UserBEST STAY EVER! Long review, but a meaningful one.
Hotel & Facilities:
I stayed here for 4 nights.
The hotel is beautiful, peaceful, and well maintained.
The location is excellent, only about a 5-minute walk from the main entrance of the Longmen Grottoes, plus all the shopping and food area.
There is also a nearby bridge where I enjoyed beautiful views of the grottoes without entering the site!
The receptionist Mengmeng upgraded my room to a suite free of charge, which made my stay even more memorable, since it was a special occasion! She was super helpful and kind through my stay.
Housekeeping was outstanding. My room was cleaned every day and maintained to a high standard.
The breakfast buffet had a variety of dishes and enough choices to keep breakfast interesting throughout my stay, I ate like a queen, besides the restaurant area is super peaceful.
As a Spanish girl who does not speak good Chinese, I relied on translation apps, and the staff were always patient, welcoming, and eager to help.
Exceptional Staff Support After I Sprained My Ankle:
During my visit to the Longmen Grottoes, I unfortunately sprained my ankle.
The level of care I received from the hotel staff was exceptional and was one of the main reasons I decided to extend my stay by an extra night.
The receptionist Dan Dan and the driver Zhang Hong went above and beyond to help me the night I sprained my ankle.
Ma Dan Dan was my main contact point. She regularly checked on me, provided ice for my ankle and even helped me do my laundry! She came up and down to my room several times to bring me everything I needed. I am very grateful for her time and care.
The driver Changwang took me to the nearest health centre and he was super patient and talkative, which was nice.
Special mention to one staff member called Wang Bing, she was working during the breakfast the day after I sprained my ankle and she was incredibly helpful, lovely and attentive, she even gave me a medicine for mosquito bites!
Everyone treated me with kindness and professionalism.
I believe mentioning their names is relevant, due to my particular situation, they deserve the recognition.
As a solo woman travelling and getting injured far away from home, their support meant a great deal to me.
Overall:
Whether you are a domestic or international traveller, I highly recommend this hotel.
The combination of beautiful facilities, an excellent location, outstanding cleanliness and nd caring staff made this one of the most memorable experiences I have had in my years of travelling.
Thank you to the entire team for making my stay so special !

AerbanigegeThis hotel was another pleasant surprise. Right after booking, I received a call from the butler asking about my arrival time and if I needed airport pickup. Since we were driving, they provided parking directions. We arrived late at night, and everyone, from the gate guard to the front desk staff and the team member who showed us to our room, was incredibly welcoming. I asked for only Coke in the mini-fridge and no other drinks, and they executed that perfectly.
The room was very spacious, and I loved that the hot spring bath was indoors and separated from the bedroom by a sliding door – that's a brilliant design.
The hotel butler was excellent and reminded us about breakfast. Oh, by the way, if you stay here, don't miss breakfast; that bowl of beef noodles was a real delight. If you need to go to a scenic spot, just contact the butler, and they'll do their best to arrange for a hotel car to take you there, which is a great service.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay. Thanks for everything!
Welcome Fruit: Very sweet and a good variety.
Minibar Drinks: If you run out in the room, just grab a Haibi drink from the restaurant to enjoy.
Rose Petals: A whole tub full of romantic ambiance.

Guest UserBeautiful hotel with a fantastic breakfast. We were a little frustrated at check in as we had paid for a more expensive room that wasn't ready on time so they tried to give us a lower end room under the false claim that it was an upgrade when it was in fact a downgrade. Additionally the pool was a public one located off site from the hotel. It was a nice facility but it would have been good to know as I almost went in my bathrobe which would have been an awkward walk around the block. With this minor issues we still had a nice and enjoyable stay.

First and foremost, the host and property manager were incredibly welcoming. We arrived at the complex just as the manager was inspecting rooms, and they even helped us carry our luggage – a definite thumbs-up! The apartment itself is spacious and bright, featuring three bedrooms and two bathrooms, all immaculately clean. The location is fantastic, situated right in the heart of the old town with excellent transport links. Luoyi Ancient City is just a short stroll downstairs, offering a variety of street food. Conveniently, the Luoyi Ancient City metro station (Line 1) is also just downstairs. You can take the metro one stop to Lijinmen, where you'll find Old Town Cross Street with all sorts of local snacks inside the city gate. The second stop is Yingtianmen, near the Tiantang, Mingtang, and Jiuzhouchi attractions, whose evening light shows are particularly stunning. We visited during the summer, so we unfortunately missed the famous Luoyang peonies; I'll have to return next April to see them. Luoyang is truly a city steeped in history, and I definitely plan to visit again!
