The Athenee Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok

I booked an Athenee Suite again and was very happy with the room and the Athenee Club. The only disappointment was that on check in at about 6.30pm there were a lot of guests in the queue for reception and I asked one of the staff whether I could go to the lounge for check in but was told that I had to check in at reception and he would escort me to the lounge after. It took about 20-25 minutes for me to access check in but the staff brought out a drink for everyone whilst waiting and a cold towel for me which was much appreciated. By the time I deposited my bags in the room and went to the lounge for evening cocktails there was less than 30 minutes for me to enjoy the night. As the hotel advertises private check in at the lounge and you cannot access the lounge floor without a room card for the elevator, this is false advertising. The room and bathroom were both spacious and comfortable but unfortunately they no longer supply the small UHT milk capsules but coffeemate packets which are not as effective. Despite this I will have no hesitation staying at the Athenee hotel again.
Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Bangkok Sukhumvit 48

Sukhumvit
I booked the hotel because they said on the Trip.com website that they had a balcony, but when I checked in, I found out that this hotel didn't have any rooms with a balcony. Well, Trip.com has compensated me with some extra Trip.com coins. However, Ramada doesn't feel like it is their problem, even though I sent them a note after my booking to remind them about the balcony (It was a few weeks before I check-in), Ramada never replied or said anything that the balcony was not available, otherwise I could have enough time to cancel the booking and find another hotel. And the ”gym” they have are just a few dumbbells and two treadmills placed next to the elevators' corridor, you can't call it a GYM. Poor service!!

The sound of the next room is very loud, screaming throughout the night, but it's OK to sleep. Some of the equipment looks old and damaged. Cleanliness is OK. There is no elevator. There is a long table and two chairs. There is no kettle. I saw there was a coffee shop inside the accommodation but I've never seen one open 🥺

I have been to Bangkok many times, but I don't want to stay along Sukhumvit anymore. I hope to experience the real life of Bangkok more deeply. So I used heritage as the keyword to find this hotel. The experience of staying here is very good, which can be summarized as ”the living and dining of wealthy families in Bangkok a hundred years ago” - the hotel is located in the old district (roughly similar to the old town of Liwan in Guangzhou). It is a three-story wooden building built in 1921. The first floor is the reception and restaurant, the second floor is several classrooms decorated with antique style, and the third floor has a large living room in addition to five suites. It can be imagined that a family must have been quite wealthy to own such a building a hundred years ago. I stayed for four days, and every breakfast was authentic Thai food, rich and beautiful! I deliberately left the morning of check-out to take pictures in the hotel. The rich and classical atmosphere of the hotel is particularly good for photos, and it is recommended that people who stay here should not miss it. Finally, I would like to praise several hospitable Thai beauties for giving people a wonderful feeling of being at home! This is a very beautiful and unforgettable experience! The photos are mainly in another mobile phone, and I will post them later.

Excellent room with amazing city view in the heart of the city, tho you might find it also the heart of traffic jam if you are a Grab-user, otherwise it is accessible from BTS. All staff is friendly and helpful, extra credit goes to the house keeping team that setting the room in perfect condition. If you are a light sleeper, you will find the mini bar refrigerator annoying. Amenities are Le Labo that give you a relaxing and oriental smell all day. Breakfast is just a life saver, since the shopping mall down stairs open at 10 and leave you no other choice nearby.
