Mijia Hotel (Beijing Wangjing 798 Art District)

Beijing - Stayed 3 nights in 4 person dorm. Expectation/Reality: The biggest issue is the design flaw relating to the top bunks. The curtains do no meet the ceiling, so there is no protection from the light in the common space. If someone comes in the room late, it will be disruptive. The bunk is also pretty hard so may not be comfortable for someone used to a mattress. Security: Pretty good, there is a door code, and a large locker for each guest and a smaller locker in the bunk itself. No concerns. Hygiene: Not bad, the bathroom and showers are shared among 4 people. Some guests get away with smoking in the room with no enforcement which can be annoying for a non-smoker. Overall, fairly clean. Hospitality: The attendants are helpful and check in was smooth. No issues. Social Atmosphere: Pretty good social areas. There is also a small gym room which is great for a light workout, a great rooftop terrace and theater room. Overall: great location, close to 789 and a reasonable price. As long as you get lucky with a bottom bunk and considerate roommates, it would be great.

Nice location. Communication with staff was a little troublesome but I don’t blame them for not knowing English. We made it work using a translation app. However, I didn’t like the facilities. Dorm room’s beds had no mattress, hard as rock, and its shower was just a tinted glass cubicle in the corner with nothing to hang your stuff and nothing helping your privacy. My roomies were smoking during the day and even the night in the room multiple times during my 5 night stay. Cigarettes were often lying in the shower drain, toilet and wherever on the floor. Obviously the Mijia hostel isn’t to blame for other guests’ bad behavior, but it seemed clear to me that there was no enforcement of their no smoking policy.

Cool place. A bit far from the center but you have everything around. Restaurants, cafes, Metro. Clean, quiet, nice area to rest,free llaundry;), lockers - but you need to bring your own lock.

Close to the art district and the metro, nothing else. But for one night would do! There is the 7 eleven close by and some small stands where you can buy food. The girl at the reception doesn’t speak English but is very kind and helpful for what she can do.

Not a bad hostel, quite comfortable to stay for a few days. There is a great roof terrace, but during my stay at the hostel it was closed for the last few days due to a political summit. Nearby is 798 art district, a very interesting place.
