The White Buck

My partner and I stayed on Friday night (24th) for one night. We had stayed a number of years ago for our anniversary and it was lovely so we decided to return. Unfortunately, our return visit was extremely disappointing. We are not a couple that complains but we feel we have to after our experiences and particularly after paying £180 for the room for one night! We just do not feel our stay met the expectation of that price point. Firstly, the welcome at reception could be better. Secondly, the room, The Commoners-15. While the room was snug (very snug), the bathroom was abysmal. The tiles and grout were covered on black mould, the shower housing was cracked and parts of the housing were missing, there was a leak and a lot of black mould around the corners of the shower, the silicone sealant was all black and mouldy, the sink overflow had black mould, the sink itself had brown staining on it and the housing under the sink was all chipped and damaged. Basically the bathroom was grim and was not what I would expect for £180! Mould can be treated with bleach! Thirdly, we needed an extension lead to plug on an item, when we asked at reception, we found again, the response was one of disinterest. We thought to ourselves, at least pretend you are looking for one! Lastly, the breakfast was all over the place. We had to ask twice for our tea and coffee and the sausages were inedible as they were not cooked. They were freezing cold and raw in the middle. We were so looking forward to our visit but we can't see ourselves returning after this time. Also, we noticed after leaving that they charge 10% service charge on dinner! An extra £7 on our dinner bill! Excuse me, what?? If I wish to leave a tip, that is my perogative. We also left a cash tip for the server not knowing we'd already tipped £7. Service charges are often charged on large groups, we were a party of 2. Meal was bang average too. We are raging that we spent so much money on one night and received so little.

We had a nights stay for our anniversary and we wasn’t disappointed, the room was upgraded and was exceptional, fantastic with a large walkin shower, roll top bath twin sinks , I’m sure the bed was queen size hair dryer and tea and coffee with fresh milk given to us at reception on our way in , a complementary drink each , we couldn’t fault the room or the excellent service we received, that started off with the wonderful welcome at reception to the bar staff and we had a fantastic meal that they had decorated the table for our anniversary and brought out a beautiful dessert to share with Happy anniversary written on it. The following morning we went for the breakfast and there’s a large breakfast selection to help yourself to and regular tea and coffee top ups along with your choice of hot breakfast which again was delicious. Once again we would like to thank you all at the white buck inn that help make our anniversary even more special, such a beautiful place.

Great Quality of service, of services and food, which is freshly prepared, freshly cooked and served by happy staff. Friendly helpful staff in all areas. Stayed April 08...Then decided to stay for the 9th too. Would highly reccomend as a base for exploring the greater area.

Such a homely amazing place to spend a few days. Julie certainly made us feel at home the entire stay. On arrival, the team here offered a complimentary upgrade to make our trip even more special. Also, Burley is a great place to establish yourself to explore the treats of the New Forest.

Special mention to Dawn and Julie whose service at breakfast was five star + We had my granddaughter with us and they made a special effort for her, Dawn's baby hot chocolate was a big hit. My room was huge and very comfortable. The bed was super comfortable and I had a huge walk in shower

Have just returned from a short visit to the New forest. We had booked to stay at the White Buck in Burley and can’t express enough how impressed we were ! Lovely location extremely accommodating and friendly staff who went the extra mile . Would absolutely recommend and will definitely book again !

We had lunch at the White Buck today! We were extremely pleased with the service we received! Especially since I have booked space and rooms for my 90th on the 27th April next. Our host was Julie who was most efficient and pleasant. We enjoyed the experience very much!

Lovely, friendly staff. Beautiful, traditional B&B. Every detail was lovely, including the rooms, drinks and snacks provided and meals. The breakfast was amazing with a continental buffet, à la carte hot food and an assortment of drinks.

I visited The White Buck Hotel for a couple of nights with my elderly mum and my dog, Belle. What a lovely stay we had. Beautifully situated in the New Forest. Lovely country lane walks with my dog straight from the hotel. We had the accessibility room. Large, clean and very comfortable. Evening meal was very good, breakfast lovely, especially the French Toast! Even Belle had a sausage. The one thing in particular that stood out though was the staff. Very helpful housekeeping lady, thank you. I must mention Julie and Dawn. What a lovely couple of ladies! So welcoming, bright, cheerful and helpful, holding Belle at breakfast when mum and I needed to go to the buffet table. So attentive and nothing too much trouble. Thank you for making it so easy for us. Another visit is definitely on the cards.
