Datong Pingcheng District Hotels

The location is absolutely perfect, right in the heart of the ancient city. There were some international options at breakfast, which was very appreciated. The staff is helpful when you ask for information. For what I have personally experienced, the hotel was super quiet too. The room i was given (308) was clean and the bed was comfy, but I must admit it was very cramped for two people. It would serve better as a single room. Also, I think the bathroom in room 308 could use a good restyling, especially the shower. All in all, it was a pleasant stay.

No words to describe the awesome and wonderful people from Renyi Inn. We arrived a bit too early and they checked us in directly, no questions asked. They brought us cherry tomatoes and oranges as snacks. They even offered us a free upgrade to a bigger unused room, however we were outside most of out trip and declined. But their hospitality goes beyond limits. Hands down one of the nicest inn I ever been too. And they have 2 lovely pet 🦚 peacocks, how awesome is that. Location is in Ancient town, close to everything, and the view is lovely

I chose this hotel because it is just a twenty minute walk north of Datong South Station. It is right next to Fantawild amusement park, so is a good choice for families (Most of the guests were families with young kids). Everything inside the hotel is brand new. One of the hosts at reception was exceptional, and she not only offered wonderful device and care to me but also to every guest I saw her interacting with (I didn't learn her name, alas). One interesting note: I stayed there on a Friday and Saturday night, and there was a firework show on both evenings in Fanatwild next door. The booming sound startled me at first, but I quickly realized what it was.

I'm an overseas Chinese from Australia. This time, coming to Datong, I truly experienced the culture of Chinese quadrangle courtyards. Also, in this homestay, I enjoyed the massage service, which was really wonderful. The courtyard design of this homestay is excellent, and the service staff are very enthusiastic. I love it here so much. If it weren't for the rush to go back to Australia, I really would like to stay here for a long time.

So fortunate to have stumbled upon this place! Its design aesthetic is exactly what I prioritize for my trips. While standard hotel rooms are a dime a dozen, a place with such meticulous design, from the courtyard to the rooms, is a rare gem. Having a unique living experience while traveling, something you wouldn't find in a typical city, truly feels like an added bonus. You can genuinely feel the owner's dedication; they are incredibly accommodating. On a rainy day, they personally drove us to grab some beer and even made coffee for us – that unique grasshopper grinder deserves a special shout-out! My overall impression was one of pure, resort-style relaxation and indulgence. In comparison, while the objective advantages are also top-notch, they almost take a back seat. The location is superb; all ancient city attractions are within walking distance. A taxi to the high-speed train station was surprisingly quicker than from locations outside the city. If you prefer to stay in, you can enjoy tea and conversation in the charming courtyard or tea room. The four-story layout ensures each room has its own distinct charm. I definitely plan to return to experience the other room types.

The Datong Holiday Inn where we stayed this time was really nice! I saw on the Internet that it had just been open for two months, so I walked around after moving in. There is a cafe on the first floor, a buffet breakfast area on the second floor, banquets and meetings on the third floor, and Chinese dining rooms and a gym on the fifth floor. The facilities are extremely complete. The bedding is clean and comfortable, the view from the floor is also great, the sky in Datong is blue, and you can see the mountains in the distance from the window. The city is not big, and it is very convenient to travel by car, making it very suitable for business travel. The girl at the front desk was polite and enthusiastic, showing the hospitality of Datong people. I must recommend this hotel.

I don't know why this hotel is so popular and fully booked. Maybe it's because it's part of the InterContinental chain... So the price I booked is a little higher (because the room is big), but everything is the normal standard of InterContinental and it didn't exceed my expectations. The hotel is close to the community and not easy to find. There are so many rooms and they are not easy to find. The front desk service is good, but the hotel hygiene needs to be improved. The towels in the room were a little dirty, so I asked the aunt to help change them. The toilet is really not easy to use, the flushing is very poor and often can't be flushed clean in one go... The breakfast is average, the knife-cut noodles are good

Living in ”Xunyou” on the first floor, the overall feeling is very good. Clean and sanitary, the interior environment is very elegant, the tatami room is large enough, with windows on three sides, but the two windows on the outside are not suitable for opening because there is construction outside. The dry area of ​​the bathroom is also large enough to fit two suitcases, but I personally feel that there is not enough space for cosmetics, and the toilet and shower room are not big enough. We were going to the Yungang Grottoes at 7am in the morning, so we didn't have breakfast. It's about one kilometer away from the center of the ancient city, so it's suitable for a slow walk.

Service starts with pre-arrival. I had planned my stay here from 30 May but arrived on 29 May. I was wondering what I should do with all my luggage. Communicated with the owner and they gladly picked up my luggage from the train station on 29 May, allowing me to peacefully enjoy climbing 恒山，roam around 悬空寺 and 应县木塔。On reaching the hotel on 30 May, the luggage was already placed in my room. Facilities were great, and amenities used were really good. Towels were fluffy and soft, which was a luxury usually seen in five star hotels. Located within walking distance of the main sights, the tranquil surroundings together with the courtyard setup really put me into a peaceful state after a busy day. The next day was 端午节, breakfast was an assortment of Shanxi delights, including 粽子. With my stomach filled, set out happily for 云冈石窟。Definitely a gem.

We came to Datong with my two children, but unfortunately, my nephew caught a pretty bad cold during our trip. After watching the 'Datong Dream' performance that day, we checked out a few hotels. They all seemed a bit run-down and weren't particularly affordable, so we quickly decided on the Qiuguo chain hotel. Upon arrival, we had a bit of trouble finding the entrance, but the front desk staff promptly came out to greet us. Noticing the children, they even offered them complimentary snacks. I thought this would be a typical short getaway, but it turned out to be quite eventful, with one problem after another. Fortunately, the staff at Qiuguo Datong were incredibly warm and attentive. In the morning, seeing me with two children – and I was only supposed to get one breakfast – they kindly offered milk, porridge, and small bread rolls for us to take back to our room. It was such a thoughtful gesture. Later that afternoon, my nephew's cold and fever became much worse. Even though we had already checked out, the staff went above and beyond and arranged a room for him to rest comfortably. I was deeply moved by their kindness. I'll definitely choose this hotel again when I bring my parents here in the future. What could have been a difficult trip was made so much better, and filled with warmth, thanks to your enthusiastic service and genuine help. My impression of Shanxi has significantly improved because of this experience. Thank you so much! 🙏
