Hotels in Kyoto Station, Kyoto

The hotel offers luggage storage, which is convenient for dropping off bags before check-in. You just need to pick them up by the end of the day after check-out. They even let me bring my folding bike into the room, even though they initially suggested parking it outside. The biggest highlight is the complimentary drinks and water available in the lobby – both hot and cold. I only had the iced yogurt drink and hot onion soup, as I don't drink coffee. There's also a microwave in the lobby, which I imagine is well-used since the hotel's location is a bit out of the way, making dining and shopping less convenient. The room itself has a safe, fridge, and TV. The bathroom provides bath towels, and toothbrushes and combs are available for self-service in the lobby. (You can see photos of the self-service drink machine in other guest reviews). The room is small but charming. The first floor has very high ceilings, with another level above, but the ladder has been removed so I couldn't see what was up there. The bedside table was very clean, but the desk was a bit dirty (perhaps just faded from age), and I spent a long time cleaning it. For a while at night, there was a strange sound in the room, like running water, but no one was using water in the middle of the night. It went on for quite a while, which slightly affected my sleep. Perhaps because it's the off-season, I got a much better deal than usual this time, significantly boosting the value for money. I hope I can find such a great price again if I have the chance to revisit next year.

The hotel is really close to the train station. After exiting the station, you just take the escalator up to the second floor, walk across the massive station, then come back down to the ground level, cross one road, and you're there. The bus station is also right by Kyoto Station, so it's quite convenient for getting around. The room itself was pretty spacious; I could fully open my 26-inch suitcase without an issue. Most of the usual disposable toiletries were provided, though you had to ask the front desk daily for toothpaste, otherwise, they wouldn't replenish it. I'm not sure if we just weren't aware, but our room wasn't cleaned once during our three-night stay, though thankfully we didn't have much trash to dispose of. Overall, I was satisfied with the stay, and the self check-in via machine was super convenient.

Everything else was fine, and I was satisfied with the stay. However, the cleanliness of the air conditioning unit and ventilation vents was truly disappointing. There was no sign that they had ever been cleaned. I even saw reviews from other guests in September and the hotel's responses, but no improvements have been made. Encountering something like this in the Kansai region, where even car wheels are polished to a shine, I honestly couldn't believe it at first. I wiped it with a cotton swab, and indeed, it clearly hadn't been cleaned 🧹. Do they not do hygiene checks here?

The rooms are exactly how it was displayed on the web. You got towels, refrigerator, hairdryer, and water heater pot, but no tea or coffee at the room. They provide slippers, toothbrush etc that you can take home. Wifi is good too. My room was overseeing the road but not too noisy. The Hotel front door is closed at 00 - 06, but you can open it with your key. For it's price of ~10,000 yen/2 person, it's a very proper hotel, better than paying the same price for hostels next to Kyoto Station. It's 1km/15 min walk, bearable with small-mid suitcase. Receptionist understands English but it wasn't exactly needed.

The hotel is new with great facilities! It's about a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station Hachijo Exit (Kyoto Station has two exits: Central and Hachijo). The location is excellent, quiet yet central! The room is spacious at 16 square meters, easily accommodating two large suitcases, and there's even a table with two chairs inside so you can eat in the room, which is fantastic! It's also very convenient for those joining day trips around Kyoto, as the tour bus meeting point is right opposite the Hachijo Exit.

Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Station: During autumn, they have a display in the lobby showing the fall foliage status of several temples, along with the day's weather. The rooms are decent, and it's not too far from Kyoto Station, but there's no public bath. You can pick up complimentary toiletries by the elevators. Staff greetings are a hit or miss. The biggest downside is breakfast; it's quite poor compared to other Mitsui hotels, with limited choices and average taste.

Location was good, easy to find, and quiet. Receptionist during check-in did her best to answer all our questions and checked us in smoothly. They were pretty strict about quiet time and kept reminding us it’s from 10:00pm until the morning. But I think that only applies to foreign tourist? The room next to us was occupied by a local couple and they woke us up around 3am until 4 because they were being LOUD. The only time they stopped was when my friend banged on the shared wall between our room and theirs. For sure they woke up the whole house. We complained in the morning and they responded saying the people next to us is checking out and they are sorry. What can they do, really? Also, after checking out, I went to the reception to ask for help and a phone because I had a problem with an ATM but they told us they can’t help and to use a phone booth instead.

Loved this place so much! It's a shame we only booked one night. We didn't meet the host at all; it was a completely self-check-in experience. Towels, toothbrushes, and other amenities were available for self-service purchase. They also offered bike rentals (1000 JPY per bike per day). Additionally, there was a 200 JPY tax per person. At first, I wondered how to pay the tax since we didn't see the host, but then I found the reservation confirmation and a QR code on the table in the room, which allowed us to scan and pay directly! Our room was on the second floor and had its own toilet and sink, while the shower room was shared and located outside. The room was really beautiful, and the kids loved it. I thought a wooden room might have poor soundproofing, but it was surprisingly quiet. We went to bed before 7 PM and didn't hear a sound. In the morning, we also enjoyed some hot white rice porridge, which was fantastic! I hope to have the chance to stay for a few more nights next time!

The hotel is located in a very convenient area, making it easy to get around and explore the surroundings. There are many shops, restaurants, cafés, and convenience stores within walking distance, which was extremely helpful during the stay. Public transportation is also easily accessible, saving time when travelling to different attractions. The room itself was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The bed was comfortable, and the room provided enough space to relax after a long day. Housekeeping did a good job of keeping everything tidy. Basic amenities were provided, and everything worked well throughout the stay. Overall, the combination of a great location and a comfortable room made this hotel a good choice. It is suitable for both short and long stays, especially for travellers who value convenience and accessibility. I would consider staying here again and would recommend it to others looking for a hotel in a good location with many nearby amenities.

Great hotel! Literally just beside the train station and tracks. My room faces the train station and tracks. You can see the people and train up close! 😁 So convenient! Malls everywhere with tons of food to eat. Easy to reach all the major attractions. Went to uji, otsu and yamashina. Great walking experience. Recommend to stay in this very comfortable hotel! Room for 2 person is comfy enough. Though cannot open luggages. Ha.
