AAnonymous UserNeedless to say, the historic building itself was magnificent. As it's not a massive hotel, the staff remembered us and provided a pleasantly attentive, yet not intrusive, service. The room amenities were standard. They explain this during check-in, but be aware that hot water won't come out unless you switch on the water heater (it takes a few minutes for hot water to be available once activated). The breakfast selection isn't vast, so you might consider dining out for breakfast instead.

JJerome T.Service took centre-stage, Albert and his team were genuinely interested to ensure you were well taken care of. Charming old-world building of 35 rooms across 2 levels (note: no lift); excellent location though live performances from neighbouring establishments ran late past midnight which could bother some (not us though). Room was a tad dusty but again not something which bothered us too much. Appreciated the 24h lounge area, and how quiet and cooling the building is inside despite noise/weather outside.

GGuest UserRooms don't have numbers; they're identified by names instead. We booked a triple room with a double and a single bed, named 'Yantai' ā I wonder if it's a reference to the city? There might be a bar with live music nearby, as it stayed noisy until past midnight. The AC worked great, though the electric fan had a slight hum. Earplugs are provided for each bed, but I wouldn't recommend this place if you're a light sleeper. The hotel restaurant was completely booked on weekends for both lunch and dinner; you definitely need a reservation to eat there. The complimentary breakfast was just okay, but it was definitely filling! As an old building, the main drawbacks were the poor soundproofing and the lack of an elevator. However, the hotel did have bellhops who were happy to help with luggage, which was a plus. On the bright side, the cleanliness was pretty good too. Crucially, the room itself was surprisingly spacious! The welcome snack was Nyonya kueh.

PPiggiesoonWe enjoyed our stay at Muntri Grove. The location is ideal and room is beatiful. The only down side is the loud live band music at night especially from Friday through the weekends. Overall it was a great stay we will come back again.

MMarble202I travel to Penang from time to time for a getaway leisure - for its food, historical buildings, and trying all kinds of lodgings.
The look and facilities are by far my favourite in Georgetown ā very tasteful arts, furnitures, coloured cushions, little book nook, lovely greens and garden, such crafty variety of how they use the space ā you will always find your coziest spot. Not doing anything else, I just pampered myself finding my most comfy armchair and read.
Before visiting, I noticed previous reviews about the hygiene ā Iām not particularly allergic; I think itās fine with this price range. However compared to my next lodging, there was room to slightly improve indeed. The bathroom, floors, and furnitures are fine; itās more about the dusty window panes and walls, and the air-con seems just too outdated and be placed facing your head when sleeping (strongly suggest they add a wind deflector).
I treasure the mere existence of how the owner wants to run this gem. Staff all so welcoming and thoughtful too, especially the éæä¼Æ uncle and a young guy at breakfast shift.

GGuest UserBook this hotel due to recommendation but found it extremely unacceptable compare to my normal travelling hotels. Upon arrival receptionist was unfriendly & business like. Size of the suites are big but too many steep stairs to climb to the bedroom not suitable for aged or handicap. Flooring was in bad condition most area in the sitting room area bulge up one can tripped easily if unaware, Hotel tried to cover up with foot mat but not helpful. We found the room spooky with dark antique furnitures which makes the room even darker & uncomfortable. Unfortunately Iāve paid for the 3 nights & hotel not willing to refund the 2 nights fee even if we had spent 1 night there. This hotel has great potential but needs to upgrade its current condition. Breakfast selection not great, we prefer to eat out although room rate includes breakfast.

IIsabelleyishaThe hotel location is right on the hot spot of Georgetown. But it goes with noise at night until 2am. So if you plan to be partying at night it's ideal and walking distance to Love Lane and all Georgetown touristic areas.
But if you wish to sleep and relax after midnight definitely not the right hotel for you.
The room was OK in terms of size but a lot of mosquitoes coming from the bathroom drain. I've killed at least 50 of them thanks to a mosquito raquet š¤£ The tip is to close the bathroom curtains so they don't get in the bedroom.
Humidity in the room had the paint peeling off.
For the price I don't think the room quality was enough. Specially for the humidity and mosquitoes combination.
The breakfast menu was not available but you can easily go down the street and eat at ease or order with the application grab. No bar available in the hotel.
The shared areas are clean. Loved that you have to take off your shoes at the entrance.
There are stairs to get into the hotel but they help you with your luggage. The first time you arrive you need to ring the bell for them to come open for you. Small door not easy to spot at first. I suggest to the hotel to stick the name directly on the door at eye level and big to avoid confusion. I've uploaded a picture of the door for you to not get lost.
After you check in they will give you the door code so easy for you to get by.
Staff has been helpful when asked but not interacting or giving you suggestion or asking you how things are going.
I've rated cleanness average because there was a lot of hair in the bathroom when I arrived. Had to literally take it off during 5 minutes. Thick long hair... Not sure how they didn't spot it.
Apart of that they were cleaning all right the rest of the stay.
Internet was not easy to get when in the room but in common areas or close to the door of the room works better. Don't save on a sim card and buy at the airport for having internet at all times on your phone. Will help you with maps and outside anyway.
The taxi from the airport was very convenient only 30 minutes and I ordered with grab came within 5 minutes.

We were so lucky to be upgraded to villa room: cozy stylish decor and all we needed was there; kettle, hairdryer, coffee tea water, fresh towels and bed made daily, our own private smoking area just outside our door. Staff were the best , always smiling and helpful. and location was close to everything significant in town. Just amazing! We did not tested the pool as it seemed a little small but we were out in town all the time anyway and never needed to.
