ZZaocanyaochibaoThis time, at the tail end of summer, I took my parents and child to Dujiangyan for an off-peak short break. I spent quite some time debating which hotel to book, initially considering the Chengdu Federation of Trade Unions Sanatorium, but after much comparison, I ultimately settled on this International Hotel.
**Transportation:** The location is incredibly convenient. The internet-famous Giant Pandas at Yangtianwo are just a few hundred meters away, and it's only about a five or six-minute walk to Guanxian Ancient City. From there, we walked all the way to South Bridge, had a meal by the river, and then strolled along the river, passing Tianfuyuan, before circling back to the hotel without retracing our steps. I'd initially hesitated due to reviews mentioning a run-down parking lot, but upon arrival, I found it perfectly fine. Aside from being a bit dim and requiring one elevator transfer, the parking experience was largely unaffected â there were plenty of available spaces, and entry/exit was easy.
**Dining:** I had also seen reviews saying breakfast was mediocre, but honestly, it was perfectly decent. Unless you have extremely high expectations for breakfast, I think most people will find it satisfying and filling â a solid 8 out of 10. Both my parents and child were quite happy with it; the rice noodles were particularly good. We also had dinner at the 19th-floor restaurant. Perhaps because business wasn't booming, the general ambiance was just okay, but the window view was excellent (see photos). The dishes tasted great, and the prices weren't expensive â comparable to a roadside home-style restaurant. Four dishes cost a little over 130 RMB.
**Room:** First and foremost, a huge thank you to the lovely lady at the front desk who upgraded us to a 10th-floor room with scenic mountain and river views. It came with one large and one small bed, which perfectly suited our group of one adult, one child, and one elder, significantly enhancing our stay. Additionally, the room was replenished daily with complimentary purified water, milk, yogurt, juice, and Coke. My child was absolutely delighted! The disposable slippers provided were also of good quality and very comfortable to wear.
**Other Amenities:** When choosing the hotel, I was particularly drawn to the hot spring pool on the basement level â though, of course, I knew it was essentially just a heated pool. My thought was that if it rained heavily, the kids could still enjoy playing in the water at the hotel, adding a bit of fun to the trip. I initially worried the water might be too cold, but upon going, I found the temperature was perfectly adequate. I worked up a good sweat in less than half an hour.
**In summary:** The hotel offers excellent value for money. Unless you're a guest seeking a truly high-end or luxurious experience, it's a solid all-around performer. If you're unsure which hotel to choose in Dujiangyan, or feeling indecisive, this is a great choice.
