High Street Hostel

In general，it is good.

Location is excellent, it’s close to the Main Street but not ON the main street so you can escape all the noise and crowds. Facilities are really nice, very colourful and comfy. Bunk beds were very good for hostel standards and they even put 2 pillows per bunk. Bathrooms were clean and plenty, the kitchen was well equipped and very big. The staff was very helpful and friendly. My only complaint is that there were a lot of volunteers and they took up most of the storage space for food since they are on a prolonged stay and sometimes they take over common spaces like the big table or the couches. The other thing is that they are a close group of friends and it’s difficult to be included in their group so you end up feeling left out unless you make or have your own group.

Everything I could want from a Hostel! The room was cheap but clean and comfortable, kitchen area clean, breakfast cheap, sitting areas comfortable, and a great central location. The staff were friendly and let me leave my bags there for the day after I'd checked out. Would highly recommend.

Front desk staffs are really rude! Discriminate customers and threaten to refuse for your entry if you ask questions. Asking questions ≠ Aggressive. The one who raise voice and not listening are the staff! Consider twice before you book in!

When checking in for my stay, the reception worker was telling me all the usual information for when you check in, and I asked if I would need a lock for my locker or if one was provided. The reception worker (I later found out his name is Raj) raised his voice and said not to interrupt him, finished his speech, and practically threw the keys at me. He did not answer my question and I was too embarrassed and shaken by him raising his voice and being generally very unfriendly that I just went up to my room. Thankfully, there were locks built into the lockers. Then, when I was leaving I stopped and asked him if he had any suggestions for things for me to do in Edinburgh...he in a really rude and loud tone said "No." and then went back to talking to another employee. Everything else was fine about my experience here but I will not be staying here again. I was shocked at how rude the staff member was.
