Unfortunately during our stay, the hot water stopped working properly (having read previous reviews - we are not the only ones) and so my partner and I were unable to to take a hot shower as the water temp dropped to freezing after around 10 minutes. This meant having to wait hours (when we'd liked to have either left to start our day, or been in bed to sleep) for any hot water to come back, which when it did, ran again for no longer than 10 consecutive minutes. This is difficult for anyone to navigate, but my partner struggles greatly with a herniated disc and relies on being able to shower with hot water to ease the pain. That week I had also unfortunately pulled a muscle and was unable to find any relief with a hot shower during our stay. Whether or not we struggled with our personal health, being without hot water properly for 3 nights, and 4 days when you're paying nearly £500 is so upsetting. We encountered other issues during our stay, such as the in-unit washer/dryer damaging our white clothing, as well as incredibly ratty, and old pillows and duvet under the covers. Both of these issues I also brought to the company's attention but I did state my main concern was the lack of hot water, and tried to give them the benefit of the doubt for the other two issues. Unfortunately correspondence with the company has been few and far between; I first reached out during our stay and no maintenance was sent to inspect, just an instruction to press some buttons and hope it would resolve the issue. Following my initial complaint, I have been waiting over a month for compensation. Management have proved impossible to be able to contact and only pass on messages through their staff (who alternatively have really tried their best where they can and remained professional throughout). Their only offer of compensation was a 15% refund which they claimed they had actioned at the time, and I have still as of yet not received that. Given the lack of hot water in a supposedly modern, convenient apartment, old and unsanitary pillows and duvets I'd expect in a hostel not a 4* aparthotel, and a washing machine that damages clothing, I really do feel let down by a 15% refund and zero communication from management. It is such a shame because the apartment had the potential to be perfect, but unfortunately only added on to what was already a stressful admin trip. We were so excited to book again if management had been active in dealing with our complaints and reassuring us this wasn't the norm - unfortunately this was not the case.

I reserved a room with this company through Airbnb. I reserved a room 4-6 months in advance and chose the apartment with the street view and the famous pub view. When I arrived the company put us in a completely different apartment. The apartment had a horrible moldy smell with leaking plumbing not to mention scuff marks all over the walls and stained flooring in the kitchen. When questioning “David” whoever that is, he said sorry that it wasn’t communicated to me that I wouldn’t be getting the apartment I reserved and paid for. He refunded me 60 pounds for my “inconvenience”. Just beware that the museum apartments will falsely advertise a beautiful deluxe apartment and put you in a horrible one.

Positives: Good central location Very nice bathroom Clean Very comfy bed Spacious Lovely soft towels Negatives: Next door to a bar so a bit of noise and drunk people outside the front door. When we arrived the apartment smelt fusty like it had been cleaned with a damp or old cloth/mop. I sprayed some of the cleaning spray around and that sorted it but not great to walk into. We had an issue with the hot water. Someone had turned the water heater off- it was in the cupboard. They don’t seem to like to talk to you, and only communicate via message which was slow and would be much easier if you could just talk to someone. Only about 15mins worth of hot water once fully hot. The contact number they provide in the welcome book is incorrect, the correct number is in the email they send you. The front door code/lock seems to take anywhere between 2-4 attempts to let you in despite going green which makes you anxious you aren’t going to be able to get in! TV is not HD, who even knew you could still get non HD! Plenty of heating so would be great in winter but no aircon and if you open the windows it’s noisy so not great when it’s hot Overall it was decent but probably wouldn’t return

This place is conveniently located in the Old Town. I like not having a key (security code). It is clean although simply furnished (everything already to be IKEA) However, it is so noisy most nights from the nightclub downstairs next door (Revolution) and noisy neighbours upstairs and just in the same corridor as you. Lots of slamming of doors. It is impossible to sleep. The windows are dressed by flimsy Venetian blinds that do not allow any sleep or sleep in especially when it doesn’t get dark until 10ish and gets light at 430am. The brackets are also coming away from the windows for some of these blinds. As I said, they are flimsy. The bedroom needs at the very least, block out blinds. I will never stay here again.

Great stay for the price, very spacious rooms and well decorated. Really good location within old town as well. Noise could maybe be seen as a nuisance to some depending on the apartment you are given but me and my girlfriend never found this much of an issue in apartment 3. Overall a great stay.

Perfectly situated within walking distance to Princes Street. Fully equipped, very clean apartments that have everything you would need. We’ve stayed in Apartment 3 twice now and we love it. The huge living room windows look on to the back of a church. There is no city view from here but we love the privacy and there was no noise from the street. Booking and checking in/out was easy and the staff were extremely quick and helpful with any queries. Expensive, but most definitely worth it!

The apartment is supposed to have an Internet connection. We stayed for 7 nights. It was, at best, but mostly no Internet at all. We phoned on the first night. The response (by email) "it is not our responsibility". Who sends an email to someone complaining of not having Internet access. There were warm words - but no action. The second, and last, time we will stay there.

The room was the one in the photo. Apartment 8 I think. It was really clean and spacious.! Loved the location right opposite the Scotland national museum. Very convenient. Also, the hop on / off bus stopped just outside so that was really convenient as well. The kitchen was well equipped and included little things like salt and pepper and a range of cleaning goods, which I thought was above and beyond! The bathroom was spacious but lacked bench space, in fact there was none. Just a hand basin shower and toilet. but in a good sized room with a towel rail of course. Main living area was very modern, light and bright and well set out but was a bit of a problem at night time as there were no block out curtains or blinds - just white venetians. The sun goes down at 9.30pm and rises around 4.30am in the summer which was when we were there. There was no door on the bedroom which to me defeated the purpose of having a separate bedroom. There was also a nightclub downstairs which got quite noisy on the Friday and Saturday nights. We got woken up around 2am with the noise of people yelling. There was an amenity kit on the bedside tables which included an eyemask and ear plugs so I guess this has been mentioned before. Overall I really liked it but my partner, not so much because of the light and noise. Oh and I really liked the locks on the doors - no worry about losing a key as you just had to code numbers in to open doors from the outside and into the apartment.

My husband and I booked 2 nights at The Museum Apartments as the highlight of our one week UK trip. We looked at the pictures and saw light, bright apartments with lovely views. The apartments were the biggest expense of our trip but we wanted a special place in Edinburgh. It took many phone calls to a call center before we managed to get the entry code for the apartment but they did allow us to check in an hour earlier. When we entered our apartment it was dark and depressing. We immediately went to the closed blinds in the lounge area and opened them. To our distress we looked out at a high brown walls. The worst view we've had from any accommodation (especially such expensive accommodation). And opening the blinds made hardly any difference to the lack of light in the apartment. The bedroom - off the lounge area was clean but felt dark and claustrophobic. We immediately emailed the name of the woman we'd been dealing with and asked for a light room with a view or at least an outlook that wasn't brown walls. We were told nothing else was available. My husband immediately said that we were very unhappy and would then like to cancel and that we had touched nothing. We were in the apartment for about 10 minutes. The response was that "as a gesture of goodwill" they would refund us the cleaning fee. We replied that the apartment was dark and depressing and did not match the photos. We received a response saying that it was a dingy day in Edinburgh but otherwise the apartment was as advertised. Photos from the web were included. (The lights were clearly switched on when the photos were taken and the brown walls were hidden behind the blind.) We emailed back attaching our photos of the dingy outlook and dark bedroom - no amount of sunlight could get in. We again asked for a refund (at least for the second night) and the contact details of the manager. No response and when we emailed again we'd been blocked. The cleaning fee was refunded but we remain over 300 pounds down. This is misleading advertising and amazing lack of customer care. There was a clean kitchen and bathroom but you would have to keep the lights on constantly to counteract the lack of natural light. Not what you want when you are paying a fortune for a memorable experience and to stay in a place that doesn't make you feel depressed and claustrophobic.
