Elea Mare

Elea is a hidden jewel, surrounded by crystal clear blue water. The hotel sits above the waves and the tranquil sound "woosh, booff" punctuates the serenity and calm. A cool sea breeze freshens the room. A wonderful balcony provides a perfect vista. Watching the stars at night is a must! Grigoris is a wonderful host, attentive and charming and generous with his knowledge of the area, it's history and local delicacies. A lovely breakfast is served daily comprising home made delights. The scrambled eggs with tomato a favourite. This unlocked memories of similar recipes growing up served by our parents. The delightful honey and the beautiful orange cake and marmalade, lovingly made by Grigoris 'family. What is it about these oranges, the delicate fragrance and their sweet punch of flavour? Opportunities for travel are boundless for our generation but it is a rare privilege to discover the nature and personality of a place. Our breakfast was quite eclectic and proudly greek. With a full belly we walk a narrow path from the hotel down to a cafe that serves drinks and snacks by the sea. Park yourself on a lounge chair and enjoy those sumptuous waters. Elea is a jewel, close to Monemvasia and Elafonisso. Elea Mare provides a truly charming experience of the very best of Greece. Elea is a beautiful town,

Our stay at Elea Mare was an excellent experience. The hotel is in a beautiful location with stunning sea views. Our room was very comfortable and super clean, and the breakfast was delicious with everything locally sourced and made. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and gave us lots of tips on the area that made our stay extra special. Highly recommend it!

We had and amazing stay at Elea Mare. Grigoris was one of the best hosts we ever had. The breakfast was full of very tasty traditional specialities with a wonderful view on the sea. The room was very clean and everyone was very friendly. It's only a 3 minutes walk to the beach (also very beautiful and sandy). Grigoris gave us advices for hiking trails, sightseeing, beautiful beaches (e.g. in Plytra nearby) and wonderful taverns. We hope to come back soon and while waiting we enjoy the best orange jam in the world (homemade, of course).

This is a lovely family hotel next to the seaside. The manager Greg was super welcome and helpful and gave us many tips as to how to what to see in the areas. The breakfast was a highlight as it was on a roof terrace with amazing views of the sea and served with many local products. The room was clean and spacious. There is a nice beach in 5' walking from the hotel, super convenient for families and couples who want to swim without driving.

This is a gem of hotel Beautiful location directly facing the sea next to a small protected cove. Lovely swimming plus showers on the beach. The hotel is superbly clean with spacious rooms and the manager/owners presence and interests are felt everywhere. A charming person who made us feel so welcome! Comfortable beds. Everything about our recent stay at Elea Mare was excellent You really need a car to get here and there is plenty of parking just a few metres from the hotel The hotel is about 30 seconds walk from the sea Out room was very comfortable with a decent shower, a large comfortable bed, plenty of storage space, a fridge, a good hairdryer and a TV. We were on the ground floor and we had a good sized patio with a table, chairs and a dryer. The views from the patio across the Laconian Gulf were spectacular and you could see the little fishing boats in the distance as well as the mountains on the other side of the peninsula Two minutes walk from the hotel is a restaurant/bar which has a sand/pebble beach and plenty of sunbeds It is no more than a 10 minute walk into the village of Elea with it's beautiful little harbour. In the village there are a few local bars/restaurants a coffee shops, a couple of small supermarkets and a bakers Breakfast at the hotel was amazing. The breakfast area is on the upper floor and again has truly amazing views. There was fresh coffee (several types) fresh orange juice, cereals, yogurt, honey, savory and sweet pastries, olives, tomato, various breads, grapes, melon, jams plus no doubt some other things I've forgotten Virtually all the breakfast food was sourced locally including quite a lot of home made things You really feel welcome at the hotel. On our final afternoon Helen prepared a really tasty surprise for us - local caviar, cheese, crackers, tomato, olives and a couple of chilled bottles of local beer. Thank you Helen When we were leaving we were given a bottle of local olive oil, again another really nice touch and much appreciated. Finally all the staff at the hotel deserve huge credit. The ladies who serviced the room did a great job and rooms plus all other areas of the hotel were kept very clean. The ladies who looked after breakfast were also excellent. Very welcoming and friendly. Last but not least a really big thank you to Greg, the owner. He always had time for guests, was very helpful with any queries and happy to suggest places to check out. He was very natural and relaxed and you really felt that nothing was too much trouble for him We'd also spent time at Elea Mare in 2019 and we very much hope to stay there again in the future

Everything was perfect! Very calm place and very hospitable staff, superb view from the balcony and homemade breakfast. The hotel situated in a very good place, near a nice beach and restaurant. Also you it is a perfect place for excursions to other places like Neapoli, Monemvasia and Elafonisos. We will visit this place again for sure!

Start the day with a slow breakfast looking out over the sea looked after by your hosts. Lovely homemade and local food, beautifully presented. End the day on the balcony in your room watching the finest sunset you will see anywhere. Sleep with just the fly screen closed listening to the gentle burbling of the sea on the rocks. Find some gentle activities to fill in the gaps! Your host will offer some suggestions. This was our fourth visit in six years. It’s wonderful. Greg, his family and the small hotel team welcome you as friends. Everything is done with care and affection. Simply wonderful. If you want night life, don’t come here. The most noise is the put-put-put of the tiny open fishing boats looking for the next day’s lunch!

I have been in the hospitality business for over 20 years and have stayed in many hotels both in the Americas and Europe but the Elea Mare is by far the best so far. This place is a hidden gem located in the town of Elia Monevasia. The owners there are hands on very accommodating and extremely friendly. Staff went above and beyond to make are stay there memorable, clean room comfortable beds breakfast and coffee exceptional. Owners son Gregory run the breakfast in the morning this young man take hospitality to the next level the quality of service he and his staff provide is by far 5 star. I strongly recommend this hidden gem to anyone wanting to get away and relax.
