A great way to see African animals in a magnificent setting. Our guide was excellent, very patient, knowledgeable and fun. We learned a lot on six expertly conducted safari drives over 3 days. Accommodation very good and food absolutely delicious, beautifully served.

Such a fantastic couple of days in AGR. Our brilliant guide Lenny made sure we had an unforgettable experience seeing the animals in their natural habitats. Thanks to all the team at Woodbury lodge for such a wonderful time. Would definitely recommend.

This was our first South African safari experience. We were certainly not disappointed. From the moment we arrived we were met with friendly attentive staff who could not do more to make our stay a pleasure. The tents were spacious with a huge comfortable bed, hot showers and all the creature comforts of a great hotel room. The pool and grounds were impeccably maintained and really added to the experience! The ranger guides were fabulous- shout out to Marli for her sheer grit and determination to get us the most wonderful experience of seeing wild animals so close up! She really smashed it out the park! Exceptional is the word here! The hot chocolate and amarula around the fire at the end of the evening drive was just perfect! Time to unwind and share the days experiences. Casual dining at one table really made the trip, getting to know new people and hear their experiences really added to the charm of the camp! We didn’t want 5* stuffy vibe and the tented camp really delivered. The food and drink was abundant (albeit I was sceptical on booking) and there was pretty much all your heart desires on hand for your stay! I would visit again in a heartbeat and the staff really made this place something kind of wonderful- so take a bow! You really are first class!

We had an incredible time at Woodbury Tented Camp and stayed for a total of 4 nights. The tents are comfortable and have everything you need and hearing the sounds of the animals whilst lying there at night is an experience in itself! The tents are very private, we stayed in tent 1 and the views across the reserve were amazing. We were a bit apprehensive about the communal dining but having the interaction between guests is actually one of the things that made our trip. The food was 10 out of 10 every day breakfast, lunch and dinner. They do not let you go hungry! And finally, the reason you will be staying here is for the safari experience. You are taken on two game drives a day, one in the morning and one in the evening. We saw 4 of the big 5 (leopards are elusive in the area!) and you could really tell that the reserve was well run and conservation and respect for the animals was top priority. We have to make a special mention to our ranger Rob - his knowledge and passion truly shone and we learnt so much from him. Every staff member we encountered at Woodbury were friendly and helpful. Our stay was faultless and this is truly a place we hope to return to one day soon!

Where to start? Our first safari experience and it was everything we wished for and more. A truly immersive, authentic and fabulous experience. The tents are big with a comfy bed and an en suite shower and toilet. In October it was still rainy and cold but we were perfectly comfortable - electric blankets were switched on in the turn down service and only the wind kept us from a full night's sleep. Didn't matter though as this place cares about giving you a good safari and all the animals were seen (except the elusive leopard). Our guide for 3 days was Nico and he suited us just fine. He was funny and caring and genuine as well as very knowledgeable. You meet other guests and spend all your meals with them as well as drinks around the campfire. You truly feel part of the Woodbury family and all the staff are friendly and great at their jobs. We were there for the Rugby WC final and lovely Nico gave up his night to drive us to the rangers' club on the reserve to watch it on the big screen. And he wasn't the only one - 16 of us went. It has two lovely pools, excellent food and is fully all inclusive with drinks available all day. If you want have a heartwarming experience, look no further and book this place. You will have no regrets.

The best holiday experience I have ever had. Excellent friendly service from the staff. Great food prepared with love. Comfortable safari tents with private viewing decks. Twice daily game drives in the incredibly beautiful Amakhala Game Reserve with the opportunity to view the big 5 (though leopards are rarely seen) and a great variety of antelope and birds. Cheetah are often seen. In September my experience was made even better by the spring flowers and aloes in bloom. I need to specially mention the excellent guiding by Rob and Nico. Highly recommended also for single travelers.

Our stay at the tented camp was by far the highlight of our trip in SA. The guides were knowledgeable and helpful and the staff were very welcoming. We are glad we stayed 4 nights to make the most of this experience, we saw the big 5 and more, they also offer horseback trail rides which was a particular highlight! We went in winter so remember to wrap up for the game drives but the electric blankets at night worked a treat for this time of year.

A brilliant experience from start to finish. The staff were amazingly friendly, the meals generous and tasty, and the game viewing ticked all the boxes for us. I can highly recommend a stay at Woodbury tented camp!

Woodbury tented camp was an amazing experience from start to finish. When we arrived after our journey from Port Elizabeth we were welcomed with some delicious and refreshing drinks. We had a tour of the facilities and once we arrived to our tent our bags were there waiting for us. The tents are super comfy and cute with lots of lovely little touches. The food was absolutely delicious and they were extremely generous with the portions and courses. On the drives we had Donovan who was very knowledgeable and patient. The drives were so much fun and after an afternoon drive when we returned after sunset, there would be hot chocolate and Amarula waiting for us. Yum! They even switched on the electric blankets for our arrivals back to our tent (as the drives can get cold!) We loved our time and would recommend it to anyone. One thing people may not like, but we didn't mind, was during meal times we were seated on the same table as the other guests, which was nice to have conversations etc with, but I imagine some people may not be a fan of that. 100% worth every penny!
