Hotels in Hakone

"Check in took quite some time as there were many guests checking in at 3pm. The hotel has a western ryokan feel. It has 2 onsens which they alternate between men and women and I suggest going to both. The one on level 5 has a waterfall view. Dinner was buffet style and the variety was great. I super love the fresh Sashimi, the miso soup, the tempura and sushi, snow crab etc. Room was clean and spacious with our own outdoor Onsen bath. Would love to come back."

"We had the opportunity to stay at Fuji International Hotel for a night before our family holiday ended & I must say that this was actually the highlight of the trip with the warmest of hosts! The hosts went above and beyond to provide a comfortable stay for all their guests, even entertaining through the night. Added another key memory for our Lake Yamanaka stopover. Not to mention brilliant views & spacious accommodation 🤗"

"Hakone Kowakien hotel is a great get away with families, the location is great, able to walk or take public bus to major attractions/museums, and they also provide shuttle to go to these locations. The room is top class, hands down for my top hotel list and will definitely come back again"

"I arrived pretty late at night, but the staff was still very kind and helpful, which I really appreciated. The room was clean and comfortable, and I felt relaxed right away. Breakfast wasn’t a huge buffet, but every dish tasted fresh and made with care, and I actually preferred that. You could feel the quality in each item. Overall, I had a great stay and would definitely come back. Thanks for the warm hospitality!"

"This hotel is conveniently located. It is a traditional Japanese hotel with a lot of facilities. It is very beautiful, particularly the garden which is big and serene. The hot spring having both indoor and outdoor pools is impressive. The dining experience is fantastic because the setting is cosy and the food is extremely delicious. The mattresses, neither too soft, nor too hard, are very comfortable."

"**Positives:** ✅ **Modern & Clean:** Well-maintained, spacious rooms with comfortable onsen. ✅ **Good Location:** Convenient access to surrounding areas. **Areas for Improvement:** ⚠️ **Room Location:** - Room extremely far from dining/foot bath – exhausting daily walks (especially with foot concerns). - *Suggestion:* Offer closer room options or service for guests with mobility needs. ⚠️ **Dining Experience (Dinner & Breakfast):** - **Food Quality:** Lamb not fresh; overall quality below ”1 stay 2 meals” onsen standard. No beef , only lamb meat is not fresh. Not satisfied with the food quality. We wanna have cup noodles after meal. Breakfast is slight better. - **Variety:** Insufficient choices (both Western & Japanese); lacked local/seasonal specialties expected at onsen hotels. Pretty disappointed. We been to many onsen hotel in Japan. Never encountered this. - **Service/Clarity:** Buffet poorly organized; unclear signage led to confusion over food availability. - **Expectations:** Meals didn’t showcase regional ingredients or highlight local cuisine like other onsen resorts. Hakone is famous onsen should showcase their seasonal ingredients in this region. **Summary:** Strong potential with modern facilities, but **critical improvements needed in dining quality** and **room accessibility** to meet onsen hotel standards."
