"This was my favorite hotel during my trip to Japan. The price was reasonable, and the citizen's center where we had our conference was right downstairs. It's excellent! The subway station is only about 200 meters away, which is very convenient. The best part is the room is spacious, and you can see Mount Fuji right from the window. The breakfast is a full buffet and very rich. They even provide bath powder, toiletries, and for lotions and toners, it's Sekkisei! The service attitude was also great."

"The room we booked for triple bed is very huge and spacious. It is very well maintained and the staff is ready to welcome you right from their entrance. The check-in and check-out process are smooth n seamless. We booked the room with mount Fuji view and we were very luckily to get to see it on the day we checked out. The viewing room at level 12 offers a clearer view of Mount Fuji. The hotel is also very near to the bus stop where you can take the free shuttle bus to Gotemba premium outlet or highway bus to Tokyo. Overall it is a very pleasant stay and we will definitely choose it again if we ever come back to Gotemba."

"Took my elderly parents here for a one night stay. We took the shuttle bus from the train station for 200 yen a person, but if I were to go again, I would opt for a taxi instead as the busses are small and can be hard to bring multiple pieces of luggage on. I thought both dinner and breakfast would be at the buffet, but the check-in receptionist said dinner was a traditional Japanese kaiseki meal. As my parents can be picky eaters with foods they are unfamiliar with, I asked to switch to the buffet so they can eat whatever they want. The room was large and had an a private open-air onsen bathtub. The shower next to the bath is a bit finicky as the water is on a timer. You have to press the lever every few seconds to get the shower running again. That day was chilly, so showering was a bit cold, but the onsen more than made up for that. We did not visit the public bath or the public onsen, so cannot comment on those. Yukatas are provided inside the closet in your room. Some guests chose to wear them everywhere inside the hotel, some did not. It is down to your personal preference. The dinner buffet was quite nice, with lots of Japanese and Western food and drink options, including alcohol. While we were out at dinner, the staff came into our room and laid out a futon on the floor in additional to the 2 twin sized beds. The breakfast buffet had somewhat fewer options, but it was still good."

"Located a 10-minute walk from Yumoto Station, the hotel room was spacious. What I liked most was the Japanese-style table and chairs set up in addition to the bed, perfect for enjoying snacks and tea. The room itself had been renovated, although the door was a bit worn. The basement onsen (hot spring) was quite nice. Hotels in Hakone are generally very expensive, so this one was reasonably priced – not cheap, but not expensive either. Overall, I was satisfied. However, the cleaning service was rather slow. They only asked for daily towel changes and trash can emptying, and when I returned around 6 PM, the cleaning still hadn't been done."

"The soundproofing in the room was terrible. The next room had a group of young people who were laughing and playing loudly until 1 AM. It felt like the walls were shaking, and I couldn't sleep at all! The bathroom was tiny; I'm 170cm tall and couldn't even turn around, it was difficult to stand! I ended up using the public shower, and then they charged me an extra 1050 yen per person at checkout! There's no parking! I had to find parking quite far away, which cost 1980 yen for one night! The service attitude was bad! I left something in the hotel, contacted them, but never got a reply! This was the worst hotel experience I've had in Japan!"

"I'm so glad I chose this hotel; it was a fantastic stay! The service was warm and welcoming, and the food and desserts were delicious. The Kyoto chef was very interesting, and we had a great chat, creating a cheerful atmosphere throughout the meal. The bartender was very knowledgeable, and the cocktails were delicious—we tried many different kinds in one evening, even though the portions were small. We also talked about local Hakone cuisine, but unfortunately, we didn't have time to try it; we'll have to save that for next time. The toiletries provided were of very high quality, from POLA skincare products to electric toothbrushes. My room included a private outdoor onsen (hot spring bath), and I thought I'd be soaking in the cold, but surprisingly, it wasn't cold at all on a cool evening. My skin felt so smooth and soft afterward! Although it currently says there's no shuttle service, after contacting the hotel, I discovered they actually do offer pick-up and drop-off services to nearby attractions and stations. Perhaps because it's newly opened, we'll see how things develop. One minor drawback might be the internet; the signal was sometimes unstable. But that's to be expected in the mountains, where even mobile data is unreliable when moving around ʅ( ･´‸･｀)ʃ The hotel staff were very distinctive and approachable. It was probably the first time I'd had such a deep interaction with them. Although I usually communicate in Japanese, most of the staff could speak English, and there was even a lovely ********* lady who spoke Mandarin. Meeting such interesting people during my trip made this stay a truly unforgettable experience. I hope it won't be so popular that it's impossible to book next time! w"

"It's about a 15-minute walk from the train station to the hotel. You cross the main street and then turn onto a street by the stream, where you'll see several hotels lined up along the bank. The hotel's policies, however, seem designed to be inconvenient. Check-in is at 3 PM, and check-out is at 10 AM. The hot spring appears to only be open for three or four hours in the evening. Breakfast is from 7 AM to 9 AM, with the last entry at 8:30 AM, and luggage storage is only available until 2 PM at the latest... Is this really designed for a vacation? The facilities are visibly older, but like most Japanese hotels, they are well-maintained and clean. The massage chairs in the common area, though, were a huge plus! Listening to white noise all night in Hakone during the rain was still quite relaxing. If you walk another five minutes uphill from the hotel, there are two soba restaurants and an outdoor sukiyaki place that are definitely worth checking out!"

"This hotel once hosted the Emperor. The rooms are spacious, and being nestled in the mountains, the air is rich with negative ions. There's a balcony where you can step out and listen to the gentle sound of water. For our hot spring experience, we opted for a private onsen. Breakfast was a bit crowded, but well-organized. All dinner restaurants require reservations; if you don't have one, the izakaya on the second floor is a good option, and their set meals are quite decent. You can take a train up the mountain, making the location very convenient. The red bridge in front of the hotel is also incredibly picturesque for photos."

"I booked a one-night, two-meal package at this hotel. The room was a Japanese-style tatami room. The hotel is a 12-minute walk from Hakone-Yumoto Station and has a very distinctive ambiance with its courtyard, waterfall, and koi fish. The staff were attentive and detail-oriented. The dinner offered a wide variety of dishes, including sashimi, sushi, and tempura. What left the deepest impression was the natural hot spring, which provided a truly delightful and relaxing experience for both body and mind!"

"Was pleasantly surprised about their large rooms (by Japanese standards) and overall stay has been very good. Will mark it for next visit to Fuji area. They do provide parking (unlimited access) at 1000Yen a day which is very good for us. Next to the hotel is the town's convention centre. The walking street is 700m away at the other end of the train station next block that offers a nice shopping and dining experience. Great sleepy town if you have planned to chill. The price they offers just tops it. Great stay."

"There were very few Chinese guests, mostly Japanese families on vacation. We were probably among the rare Chinese guests at this hotel. We chose the Horizon room type, which comes with two private onsen baths. They aren't huge, but they are impeccably clean. Dining was at Ocean, about a 15-minute walk away. The upside is that it's perfect for a leisurely stroll back to your room after dinner to digest your meal. Atami feels like a mini-Chongqing, with very genuine and friendly locals. I'd definitely visit again."
